In this study, we have modeled the effect of the bulk medium on electron attachment to nucleobases in diethylene glycol (DEG) using uracil as a test case, in accordance with recent experimental work on the observation of dissociative quasi-free electron attachment to nucleoside via excited anion radical in solution (in DEG). Our EOM-CCSD-based quantum mechanical/molecular mechanical (QM/MM) simulations indicate that the electron scavenging by uracil in DEG is much slower than that observed in the aqueous medium due to its viscosity.

The BANGABANDHU (Bangladeshi Atherosclerosis Biobank AND Hub) study will allow a hypothesis-free genome-wide association study (GWAS) to identify genetic risk factors associated with ischaemic heart disease patients undergoing coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery in Bangladesh.
Methods: This is a multi-centre population-based case-control study aimed to evaluate 1500 (Fifteen Hundred) adult (≥18 years of age) people divided into 2 study groups: Case/Proband (750 IHD patients undergoing CABG surgery) and Control (750 healthy people).
Azido-modified nucleosides have been extensively explored as substrates for click chemistry and the metabolic labeling of DNA and RNA. View Article and Find Full Text PDFA biomimetic cell-based carrier system based on monocyte membranes and liposomes has been designed to create a hybrid "Monocyte-LP" which inherits the surface antigens of the monocytes along with the drug encapsulation property of the liposome. Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET) and polarization gated anisotropy measurements show the stiffness of the vesicles obtained from monocyte membranes (Mons), phosphatidylcholine membranes (LP), and Monocyte-LP to follow an increasing order of Mons > Monocyte-LP > LP. The dynamics of interface bound water molecules plays a key role in the elasticity of the vesicles, which in turn imparts higher delivery efficacy to the hybrid Monocyte-LP for a model anticancer drug doxorubicin than the other two vesicles, indicating a critical balance between flexibility and rigidity for an efficient cellular uptake.

Single-crystal X-ray diffraction (SCXRD) analysis unveils vivid change in structural arrangements and dimensionality from 1 to 2 due to change in coordinated atom from oxygen to nitrogen of the ligands. SCXRD study shows that compound 1 is dinuclear but compound 2 has a 1-dimensional polymeric structure having helical chain.
