Hydraulic fracturing has unlocked vast amounts of hydrocarbons trapped within unconventional shale formations. This large-scale engineering approach inadvertently introduces microorganisms into the hydrocarbon reservoir, allowing them to inhabit a new physical space and thrive in the unique biogeochemical resources present in the environment. Advancing our fundamental understanding of microbial growth and physiology in this extreme subsurface environment is critical to improving biofouling control efficacy and maximizing opportunities for beneficial natural resource exploitation.

Understanding the underlying physics of natural gas hydrate dissociation is necessary for efficient CH4 extraction and in the exploration of potential additives in the chemical injection method. Silica being "sand" is already present inside the reservoir, making the silica nanoparticle a potential green additive. Here, molecular dynamics (MD) simulations have been performed to investigate the dissociation of the CH4 hydrate in the presence and absence of ∼1, ∼2, and ∼3 nm diameter hydrophilic silica nanoparticles at 100 bar and 310 K.

Introduction And Importance: Malignant hypertension is the most severe form of hypertension that may cause life-threatening manifestations. Carbamazepine is an antiepileptic drug primarily used for seizure disorders and trigeminal neuralgia. One of the rarely triggered adverse side effects of carbamazepine is drug-induced malignant hypertension.

Several advances in skin tissue engineering have been made to restore skin damage, facilitating wound healing. Bacterial cellulose (BC), a naturally occurring polymer, has gained attention as a potential material in wound healing due to its unique physical and biological properties. In recent years, with the advent of 3D bio-printing technology, new avenues have opened for fabricating customized wound dressings and scaffolds for tissue engineering purposes.

Plant-mediated synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) is an eco-friendly and convenient alternative to conventional methods. leaf extract (BHE) was used in this study to reduce metal salts and cap and stabilize nanoparticles (NPs), which were characterized and tested for antibacterial and anti-corrosion properties. Stirring the extract with AgNO led to a color change, indicating nanoparticle formation.

The populations of many species of large mammals occur in small isolated and fragmented habitat patches in the human-dominated landscape. Maintenance of habitat connectivity in the fragmented landscapes is important for maintaining a healthy population of large mammal. This study evaluated the landscape patches and their linkages on two carnivores (leopard and Himalayan black bear) and seven prey species (northern red muntjac, chital, sambar, wild pig, Himalayan goral, rhesus macaque, and langur) between Chitwan National Park (CNP) and Annapurna Conservation Area (ACA) by using the least-cost path (LCP) approach and the Linkage Mapper tool in ArcGIS.

Use of checkpoint inhibitor pembrolizumab has continued to grow since its approval in 2014. Rare instances of conduction side effects have been described including brady and tachyarrhythmias, heart block and even cardiac arrest. We present a case of Pembrolizumab induced myocarditis and persistent third-degree heart block.

Background: In 2015, the US Food and Drug Administration approved nivolumab as the first immunotherapy for patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, population-based survival benefit studies after the introduction of immunotherapy in lung cancer are lacking. This study examined overall survival (OS) and cancer-specific survival in patients with NSCLC in the pre immunotherapy and immunotherapy eras.

Blueberries ( section ) have a wealth of bioactive compounds, including anthocyanins and other antioxidants, that offer significant health benefits. Preserving these compounds and maintaining the sensory and nutritional qualities of blueberry products such as juice during cold market storage is critical to meet consumer expectations for nutritious, safe, and minimally processed food. In this study, we compared the effects of two preservation processing techniques, high-temperature short-time (HTST) and continuous flow high-pressure homogenization (CFHPH), on blueberry juice quality during storage at 4 °C.

Background: and objective: Lipid-lowering is an important intervention to reduce cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in the secondary prevention of STEMI. There is no study to analyze the use of statin and LDL-C treatment target attainment among STEMI patients in Nepal. This study aims to assess the use of statin and LDL-C treatment target attainment among STEMI patients.

Background: Undergraduate nursing students are frequently vulnerable to stress during their education with a high rate of attrition. Mindfulness Mediations based on Stress Reductions have been found to promote psychological well-being and mental health among nursing students. Therefore, the objective of the study was to explore the experiences of Mindfulness among undergraduate nursing students.

Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) remains a global public health concern due to its epidemiological distribution and the existence of multiple strains. Neutralizing antibodies against this infection have shown efficacy in in vivo studies. Thus, elucidation of the epitopes of neutralizing antibodies can aid in the design and development of effective vaccines against different strains of JEV.

Bone defects pose significant challenges in orthopedic surgery, often leading to suboptimal outcomes and complications. Addressing these challenges, we employed a three-electrode electrochemical system to fabricate surface-controlled polyaniline nano-tulips (PANINTs) decorated polycaprolactone (PCL) reinforced chitosan functionalized iron oxide nanoparticles (CS-f-FeO) scaffolds. These structures were designed to emulate the natural extracellular matrix (ECM) and promote enhanced osseointegration by establishing a continuous interface between host bone and graft, thereby improving both biological processes and mechanical stability.

In pursuit of enhancing bone cell proliferation, this study delves into the fabrication of porous scaffolds through the integration of nanomaterials. Specifically, we present the development of highly conductive chitosan (CS) nanonets on fibro-porous polyurethane (PU) bio-membranes. These nanofibers comprise functionalized multiwall carbon nanotubes (fMWCNTs), well-dispersed superparamagnetic iron oxide (SPIONs), and strontium oxide (SrO) nanoparticles.

Crop damage, predation on domestic animals and human attacks are often associated with human-wildlife conflict. The abundance and encounter rate of wild mammals are often associated with human wildlife conflict. Crop damage, livestock depredation and human injury and their relation with environmental factors and encounter rate of the mammals was evaluated in the central region of Chitwan Annapurna Landscape.

In this study, a bilayer electrospun scaffold has been prepared using regenerated cellulose (RC)/quaternized chitosan (CS) as the primary layer and collagen/hyaluronic acid (HA) as the second layer. An approximate 48 mol% substituted (estimated from H NMR) quaternized CS was used in this study. Both layers were crosslinked with EDC/NHS, reflecting an increase in UTS (2.

Microorganisms inadvertently introduced into the shale reservoir during fracturing face multiple stressors including brine-level salinities and starvation. However, some anaerobic halotolerant bacteria adapt and persist for long periods of time. They produce hydrogen sulfide, which sours the reservoir and corrodes engineering infrastructure.

Pain is frequently experienced by children in hospital, and international guidelines for appropriate pain assessment and management are available. Optimal management of paediatric pain has important long-term health, psychosocial, and economic benefits. However, evidence indicates that globally there are deficits in nurses' understanding of paediatric pain assessment and management.
