Hospital housekeepers: Victims of ineffective hospital waste management.

Improper waste management exposes hospital housekeepers to biological risk. The objectives of this study were to identify the frequency and profile of exposure incidents, classify the role of sharps waste, and compare the first and last occurrences for hospital housekeepers with multiple exposure incidents. A retrospective epidemiological study using Brazilian records from 1989 to 2012 was conducted.

Biological risk among hospital housekeepers.

Although not directly responsible for patient care, hospital housekeepers are still susceptible to accidents with biological material. The objectives of this study were to establish profile and frequency of accidents among hospital housekeepers, describe behaviors pre- and postaccident, and risk factors. This was a cross-sectional study with hospital housekeepers in Goiania, Brazil.

[Management of waste generated in home care by the Family Health Strategy].

This study aimed to analyze the management of waste generated by home care. Data were collected through observation of care provided by professionals and users and/or caregivers. Data were recorded on a checklist developed according to the recommendations of RDC 306.

Endoscope reprocessing using glutaraldehyde in endoscopy services of Goiânia, Brazil: a realidade em serviços de endoscopia de Goiânia, GO.

Context: The endoscopic procedure safety depends on the use of an adequately reprocessed device which quality is related to each of its operational steps.

Objective: To characterize the reprocessing of endoscopes using glutaraldehyde in endoscopy services

Methods: Study was conducted by observing the reprocessing of 60 endoscopes from 20 medical practices of the municipality of Goiânia, GO, central area of Brazil.

Results: This study showed failure in all reprocessing steps.
