The valorization of shell-based agricultural waste biomass for biofuel production represents a promising approach within the circular bioeconomy. This study employs a bibliometric analysis to investigate research trends and identify key developments in the field from 1997 to 2023, using data from the Web of Science and VOSviewer for scientific mapping. A total of 1333 research articles were examined, revealing notable shifts in research focus: from pyrolysis and biomass energy (1997-2005) to gasification (2006-2014), and more recently, to enzymatic hydrolysis and lignocellulosic biomass gasification (2015-2023).

This study explores the utilization of eight readily available agricultural waste varieties in Nigeria-sugarcane bagasse, corn husk, corn cob, wheat husk, melina, acacia, mahogany, and ironwood sawdust-as potential sources of cellulose. Gravimetric analysis was employed to assess the cellulose content of these wastes, following which two selected wastes were combined based on their cellulose content and abundance to serve as the raw material for the extraction process. Response Surface Methodology, including Box-Behnken design, was applied to enhance control over variables, establish an optimal starting point, and determine the most favorable reaction conditions.

Three Schiff bases were synthesised by the condensation reaction between 2-napthaldehyde and aromatic amines to afford -mesityl-1-(naphthalen-2-yl)methanimine (), ()--(2,6-dimethylphenyl)-1-(naphthalen-2-yl)methanimine () and -(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)-1-(naphthalen-2-yl)methanimine (). The synthesised compounds were characterised using UV-visible, NMR (C & H), and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopic methods while their purity was ascertained by elemental analysis. Structural analysis revealed that the naphthalene ring is almost coplanar with the imine functional group as evident by C1-C10-C11-N1 torsion angles of 176.

Transcription activators are said to stimulate gene expression by "recruiting" coactivators to promoters, yet this term fits several different kinetic models. To directly analyze dynamics of activator-coactivator interactions, single-molecule microscopy was used to image promoter DNA, a transcription activator, and the Spt-Ada-Gcn5 Acetyltransferase (SAGA) complex within nuclear extract. SAGA readily, but transiently, binds nucleosome-free DNA without activator, while chromatin template association occurs nearly exclusively when activator is present.

We have synthesized and characterized nine Ag(I) complexes of Schiff bases containing thiophene, furan, and pyridine moieties for in vitro antibacterial, antioxidant, anticancer activities, and DNA/bovine serum albumin (BSA) binding studies. Based on the analytical and spectral analyses, a linear geometry was proposed for all the Ag(I) complexes, except for one (with the furan moiety), which formed a distorted T-shaped geometry. UV-vis absorption studies on the interactions of calf thymus-DNA (CT-DNA) with the nine Ag(I) complexes pointed to an intercalative binding mode.

Background: Anti-hepatitis B core antibody (anti-HBc) testing improves transfusion safety by detecting past and current hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection while detecting hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) in serology-negative HBV infection. However, occult HBV infection (OBI) (serum or liver HBV DNA-positive but HBsAg-negative) remains unaddressed among replacement blood donors - family members or friends who donate to replace blood transfused to a relative.
