A Real-World Prospective Multiple Sclerosis Pregnancy Registry in the United States: PREG-MS.

Background And Objectives: Multiple sclerosis (MS) affects more than 1 million people in the United States, including reproductive-age women. There has been a paucity of prospective, pregnancy registries based on MS disease rather than medication exposures. A prospective MS pregnancy registry (PREG-MS) was established in 2017 as a prospective, single-cohort, real-world MS pregnancy registry in New England States of the United States, with goals to evaluate (1) course of MS and disease-modifying therapies (DMT) use during conception attempts and in the peripartum period, (2) pregnancy outcomes in women with MS (WwMS), and (3) longer-term developmental outcomes in offspring of WwMS.

The LRRK2 R1628P variant plays a protective role in Han Chinese population with Alzheimer's disease.

Aims: Alzheimer's disease (AD) and Parkinson's disease (PD) are the most prevalent neurodegenerative disorders that may share some overlapping etiologies. Mutations within leucine-rich repeat kinase 2 (LRRK2) have been reported to be responsible for PD, and the location of LRRK2 is within a linkage peak for sporadic AD (SAD). The aim of this study was to investigate two Asian-specific LRRK2 variants, R1628P and G2385R, with the association of Han Chinese SAD.

Autoimmune disease in families with multiple sclerosis: a population-based study.

Background: Evidence of an association between multiple sclerosis (MS) and other autoimmune diseases would substantiate the hypothesis that MS is an autoimmune disease, and implicate a common mechanism. We aimed to investigate and compare the rate of autoimmune disease in MS patients, in their first-degree relatives, and in their unrelated spouses.

Methods: We used data from a national, multicentre, population-based sample to investigate the rate of autoimmune disease in 5031 MS patients, 30 259 of their first-degree relatives, and 2707 spousal controls.
