A Gene Expression Signature to Select Hepatocellular Carcinoma Patients for Liver Transplantation.

Objective: To propose a new decision algorithm combining biomarkers measured in a tumor biopsy with clinical variables, to predict recurrence after liver transplantation (LT).

Background: Liver cancer is one of the most frequent causes of cancer-related mortality. LT is the best treatment for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients but the scarcity of organs makes patient selection a critical step.

Zosteriform metastases from colon carcinoma: an unusual pattern.

Cutaneous metastases of internal malignancies occur infrequently and the zosteriform spread of the skin lesions represents a rare entity. We report here a case of cutaneous metastases from a colon carcinoma clinically mimicked Herpes varicella-zoster. The literature is also reviewed.

[Pneumocystis and cytomegalovirus pneumonia in HIV patients - two clinical cases].

Cytomegalovirus is capable of causing disease in immunocompromised patients. In people infected by the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) it becomes an important agent when there is advanced immunosupression. Its role as a pulmonary pathogen in these patients has been questioned.
