Prevalence of Steroid-Induced Hyperglycemia in King Abdulaziz Specialist Hospital, Taif City, Saudi Arabia.

Background Hyperglycemia is a common side effect of high-dose steroid therapy in hospitalized patients. Objectives To assess the prevalence of hyperglycemia among hospitalized patients receiving steroid therapy. Methods A retrospective study was conducted among 245 patients.

Sealing Ability of AH Plus and GuttaFlow Bioseal.

The objective of root canal obturation is to achieve a fluid-tight seal. Recently, GuttaFlow bioseal (GB), a root canal sealer composed of polydimethylsiloxane, gutta-percha particles, and bioactive glass ceramics, has been developed, to enhance the sealing ability of root canal filling material. The objective of this study was to assess the sealing ability of GB using a subnanoliter-scaled fluid-flow measuring device and to compare with that of AH Plus (AH).

Awareness of healthcare workers regarding preventive measures of communicable diseases among Hajj pilgrims at the entry point in Western Saudi Arabia.

Objective: To determine the level of knowledge of healthcare workers (HCWs) towards preventive measures for communicable diseases among pilgrims, and to highlight the difficulties faced by HCWs in implementing preventive measures at entry point.

Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted at King Abdulaziz International Airport Hajj Terminals in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during Hajj season from October to November 2009 including 325 healthcare workers (HCWs). Data were collected using a self-administered questionnaire.
