  • The study analyzed degradation products from two efficient polythene-degrading fungi, Aspergillus terreus and Aspergillus sydowii, after 60 days of incubation, using the GC-MS method to identify a total of 24 polythene-degradation products (PE-DPs).
  • Four different samples were tested under varying pH levels, revealing that the germination rate of sorghum seeds remained unaffected by the PE-DPs, while the germination index peaked at 50% for both fungal isolates.
  • In an animal model, treatment with PE-DPs did not cause any mortality in Tiger sharks over a fifteen-day period, indicating a relatively benign effect on both plant and animal life.
