In 2021, the UK Government announced additional funding in England for Adult Weight Management Services (AWMS); it was specified that the extra funding must be used to commission or extend existing tier 2 services. The Office for Health Improvement and Disparities encouraged commissioners to prioritise services for higher-risk groups such as those with learning disabilities, severe mental illness, people from minority ethnic groups, those living in deprived areas and men. To better understand the findings from previous survey work and to explore the implementation of targeted services in greater depth, we undertook a multiple case study comprising eight tier 2 adult weight management service providers and 35 individual stakeholder interviewees.

Objective: The aim of this analysis was to explore the association between selenium status [serum selenium and selenoprotein P (SELENOP) concentrations and glutathione peroxidase 3 (GPx3) activity] and cognitive function in 85-y olds living in Northeast England at baseline and ≤5 y of follow-up.
Interleukin-1α is a suggested dual-function cytokine that diverged from interleukin-1β in mammals potentially by acquiring additional biological roles that relate to highly conserved regions in the pro-domain of interleukin-1α, including a nuclear localisation sequence and histone acetyltransferase-binding domains. Why evolution modified pro-interleukin-1α's subcellular location and protein interactome, and how this shaped interleukin-1α's intracellular role, is unknown. Here we show that TurboID proximity labelling with pro-interleukin-1α suggests a nuclear role for pro-interleukin-1α that involves interaction with histone acetyltransferases, including EP300.

We analyzed 2157 neurons among 128 older individuals from the Religious Orders Study and Rush Memory and Aging Project. Analysis of 55,521 individual dendritic spines by least absolute shrinkage and selection operator regression and nested model cross-validation revealed that the dendritic spine head diameter in the temporal cortex, but not the premotor cortex, improved the prediction of episodic memory performance in models containing β amyloid plaque scores, neurofibrillary tangle pathology, and sex.

Sterile transgenic strains provide a nonsurgical replacement, but their maintenance requires breeding and genotyping procedures. Here, using CRISPR-tagging of type I collagen and SILAC labelling, we elucidate the cellular mechanism for the spatiotemporal assembly of collagen fibrils, in cultured fibroblasts. Our findings reveal multifaceted trafficking of collagen, including constitutive secretion, intracellular pooling, and plasma membrane-directed fibrillogenesis.

Methods: A study population of people with COPD in England was created using the Clinical Practice Research Datalink Aurum database linked with Hospital Episode Statistics inpatient data.
