Sleepiness-related errors are a leading cause of driving accidents, requiring drivers to effectively monitor sleepiness levels. However, there are inter-individual differences in driving performance after sleep loss, with some showing poor driving performance while others show minimal impairment. This research explored if there are differences in self-reported sleepiness and driving performance in healthy drivers who exhibited vulnerability or resistance to objective driving impairment following extended wakefulness.

However, there has been little evaluation of the change in proprioceptive deficits in the lower limbs over time after stroke. This study aimed to examine proprioceptive deficits over time after stroke in both the affected and "unaffected" lower limbs.

Well-organized and flexible applications for conducting large-scale simulations of evolution hold promise in this context for understanding models and more so our ability to confidently estimate them with real trait data sampled from nature.
Results: We introduce , an R package designed to facilitate efficient, large-scale simulations under complex models of continuous trait evolution.
Objectives: To investigate the effects of different directions of athletic taping on neuromuscular control of the lower limb in recreational athletes with Achilles tendinopathy (AT).
Design: Crossover Study.
Setting: Functional assessment laboratory.
Variation in outcomes definitions and reporting limit the utility of clinical trial results. The Core Outcome Research Measures in Anal Cancer (CORMAC) project developed a core outcome set (COS) for chemoradiotherapy trials for anal squamous cell carcinoma (ASCC) through an international healthcare professional and patient consensus process. The CORMAC-COS comprises 19 outcomes across 4 domains (disease activity, survival, toxicity, life impact).

However, this flexibility complicates downstream analysis, as computational tools are often tailored to specific MRI types and lack generalizability across the full spectrum of scans used in healthcare. Here, we introduce a versatile framework for the development and validation of pan-contrast AI models that can exhaustively cater to the full spectrum of scans achievable with MRI, enabling model deployment across scanner models, scan types, and age groups.

Aim: To describe the neurodevelopment and quality of life in SLC13A5 (solute carrier family 13 member 5) citrate transporter disorder (developmental and epileptic encephalopathy 25, DEE25), a rare genetic early infantile epileptic encephalopathy caused by deficiency of a sodium-citrate transporter, characterized by heavy seizure burden in the neonatal period.
Method: We analyzed longitudinal neurodevelopmental outcomes from a prospective natural history study of DEE25, using standardized assessments of Mullen Scales of Early Learning, Peabody Developmental Motor Scales, and Vineland Adaptive Behavior Scales.
Results: There was significant global impairment across the cohort, with variable quality of life and limited genotype-phenotype correlation.
Background: Diaphorina citri is an insect vector of "Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus" (CLas), the gram-negative bacterial pathogen associated with citrus greening disease. Control measures rely on pesticides with negative impacts on the environment, natural ecosystems, and human and animal health. In contrast, gene-targeting methods have the potential to specifically target the vector species and/or reduce pathogen transmission.

Background: Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is common in people with substance use disorders (SUDs). TBI often results in cognitive deficits which can affect the clinical course of SUD.
Case Presentation: Here we present the case of a 34-year-old Spanish-speaking man with severe opioid use disorder and two prior TBIs affecting his cognitive abilities.
Background: Autistic adults are at elevated risk for depression. However, longitudinal data on the trajectory of depressive symptoms and its associated factors in autistic adults are scarce.
Methods: A community sample of 315 autistic adults participated in a two-year longitudinal study from the beginning of (March 2020) to the recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic (March 2022).
Background: Several adult studies show mixed reports in clinical outcomes between cryopreserved and fresh stem cell products, with majority reporting no significant differences and others report that there are differences in outcomes. There is limited literature reporting its impact on outcomes in pediatric hematopoietic cell transplantation (HSCT).
Objective: To compare clinical outcomes between fresh vs cryopreserved stem cell treatment in pediatric HSCT.
Proprioception plays an important role in joint stability, and ankle sprains usually happen involving plantarflexion, internal rotation, and inversion. However, ankle 3D movement proprioception has never been measured in weight-bearing. Accordingly, the active 3-dimensional movement extent discrimination apparatus (AMEDA-3D) was developed and its reliability and validity were investigated.

The EUnetHTA 21 project, a 2-year initiative, was commissioned to address key methodological issues and prepare for the implementation of the HTAR. This commentary documents the outcomes of the EUnetHTA 21 project, focusing on Joint Clinical Assessments (JCAs), while analyzing challenges encountered and lessons learned for future collaboration under the HTAR.

In psychopathology, incoherent discourse is assumed to reflect disorganized thinking, which is classically linked to psychotic disorders. However, people do not express everything that comes to mind, rendering inferences from discourse to the underlying structure of thought challenging.

Little was known about the physical and psychological impacts that these measures would have upon residents and their relatives.
Aim: To explore the experiences of residents and their relatives of living restricted lives during the pandemic.
The purpose of this study was to investigate differences in ankle plantar flexion proprioception and lower extremity function between Achilles tendinopathy (AT) patients and healthy controls. 17 patients with midportion AT (age 22.0 ± 3.

We report findings from a qualitative study exploring the acceptability of a sputum colour chart and SMP to guide patient use of antibiotics and steroids (commonly termed a 'rescue pack'). Qualitative interviews were conducted with healthcare professionals (HCPs) and patients from the Colour COPD trial - a randomised controlled trial of usual care (SMP alone) versus usual care plus sputum colour chart to manage AECOPD across England and sampled to promote maximum variation.

Previous reference genome assemblies for this species were generated from short read sequencing data, resulting in a ~650 Mb composed of thousands of contigs. Here, we present a haplotype-resolved, chromosome-level reference genome, generated from an adult Harlen strain female specimen.

However, perturbations to tissue-resident macrophages during disease, and the subsequent emergence of monocyte-derived macrophages, can hinder tissue recovery and promote further damage through inflammatory and fibrotic programs. Gaining a fundamental understanding of the critical pathways defining pathogenic macrophage populations enables the development of targeted therapeutic approaches to improve disease outcomes.

The relationship between these factors and "free" T remains unclear. We examined 21 sociodemographic, lifestyle, and medical predictors influencing calculated free T (cFT) in community-dwelling men across ages.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA fundamental goal of evaluating the performance of a clinical model is to ensure it performs well across a diverse intended patient population. A primary challenge is that the data used in model development and testing often consist of many overlapping, heterogeneous patient subgroups that may not be explicitly defined or labeled. While a model's average performance on a dataset may be high, the model can have significantly lower performance for certain subgroups, which may be hard to detect.
