Background: Limitations to using the knee as donor cartilage include cartilage thickness mismatch and donor site morbidity. Using the radial head as donor autograft for capitellar lesions may allow for local graft harvest without distant donor site morbidity. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the feasibility of performing local osteochondral autograft transfer from the nonarticular cartilaginous rim of the radial head to the capitellum.

Meropenem-resistant Burkholderia pseudomallei: a concerning single case in Australia with no prior meropenem exposure.

We report a case of cutaneous melioidosis in a 54-year-old male with a meropenem-resistant sub-population. He was empirically treated with episodic doxycycline and trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole; however, the abscess re-accumulated. The patient had no prior exposure to meropenem.

A High-Throughput Droplet-based Method to Facilitate Microbial Conjugation.

Droplet microfluidic platforms have been broadly used to facilitate DNA transfer in mammalian and bacterial hosts via methods such as transformation, transfection, and conjugation, as introduced in our previous work. Herein, we recapitulate our method for conjugal DNA transfer between strains in a droplet for increased conjugation efficiency and throughput of an otherwise laborious protocol. By co-incubating the donor and recipient strains in droplets, our method confines cells into close proximity allowing for increased cell-to-cell interactions.

Climate Change and the Emergence of No-Analog Forest Assemblages in North America.

Future climate change is expected to result in tree species shifting their geographic distributions in ways that could reorganize species into assemblages with no contemporary analog. These projected no-analog forests raise concern as their ecological function could similarly shift, which may challenge established conservation and management efforts. Here, we implement a community-level modelling approach to identify the key climatic and topographic drivers of forest composition in North America, and then use these models to predict the distribution of "disappearing" and "novel" forest assemblages in future climate.

There is still room for expansion, as utilizing DCD organs to the fullest extent is currently the most viable solution to the persistent mismatch between supply and demand in transplantation. We convened a multidisciplinary transplantation summit to examine various aspects of DCD, with faculty members from around the world with clinical and academic interest in DCD donation and transplantation, including abdominal and cardiothoracic surgeons, organ procurement organization directors, hepatologists, and gastroenterologists.

An evaluation of the National Influenza Vaccination Program in the Republic of Moldova, 2023-2024.

During the 2023-2024 influenza season, the Republic of Moldova, a lower-middle income country seeking accession into the European Union, independently financed their influenza vaccine supply transitioning from external support from the Partnership for International Vaccine Initiatives, a collaboration conceived in 2015. As part of this transition, a mixed-methods evaluation was conducted from May 2023 - January 2024 to identify current strengths and weaknesses of the influenza vaccination program. A total of 157 interviews were conducted: one with the National Immunization Program (NIP), six with district health officers, 18 at health facilities, 18 with caregivers/parents, 34 with healthcare workers, 43 with adults with chronic diseases, 19 with pregnant women, and 13 vaccine observation sessions; further five expert interviews with an international organization, the insurance company, senior government officials in public health and within the ministry of health, and those involved with COVID-19 were conducted.
