Introduction/background: Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) is a fundamental shift in perioperative care that has consistently demonstrated an improved outcome for a wide variety of surgeries in adults but has only limited evidence in the pediatric population.

Objective: We aimed to assess the success with and barriers to implementation of ERAS in a prospective, multi-center study on patients undergoing complex lower urinary tract reconstruction.

Purpose: This study aimed to analyze organ system-based causes and non-organ system-based mechanisms of death (COD, MOD) in people with myelomeningocele (MMC), comparing urological to other COD.

Methods: A retrospective review was performed of 16 institutions in Canada/United States of non-random convenience sample of people with MMC (born > = 1972) using non-parametric statistics.

Results: Of 293 deaths (89% shunted hydrocephalus), 12% occurred in infancy, 35% in childhood, and 53% in adulthood (documented COD: 74%).

Robotic-assisted pyeloplasty (RAP) is a mainstay in the treatment of ureteropelvic junction obstruction (UPJO) in children. At our institution, to limit planned operating rooms visits we have placed a ureteral stent with an external string (SWES) immediately prior to RAP. In this study, we sought to quantify the operative time, complications, and costs associated with this approach compared to the traditional approach, requiring subsequent stent removal in the operating room.

Introduction: Filum section (FS) has been used to treat tethered cord syndrome (on MRI or occult) in pediatric patients with refractory dysfunctional voiding (DV). While controversial, some groups have previously reported significant improvement in patients' symptoms after FS, even in the presence of a normal preoperative spinal MRI. Until recently, it was our practice to refer patients with DV to pediatric neurosurgery for evaluation, MRI, and possible FS.

Adrenocortical tumors in children are rare, with approximately 90% of children presenting with endocrine syndromes, most commonly virilization. The standard treatment remains an open resection, although there is increasing use of the minimally invasive approach. Objective: To describe our technique for surgically treating cryptorchidism with bilateral robot-assisted laparoscopic orchiopexy.

Background: Nonpalpable, undescended testes are commonly seen by the pediatric urologist. It is recommended to surgically bring the testis into the scrotum early in life to decrease the higher risk of future testicular carcinomas seen in abdominal testes.

We present the rare case of a young boy who was found to have T-cell lymphoma after presenting with flank pain and bilateral nephrolithiasis. He initially underwent bilateral ureteral stent placement but returned with oliguria and acute renal failure. His subsequent workup revealed lymphoma involving both kidneys.

Background: Spina bifida (SB) patients are at increased risk for hydronephrosis, bladder storage and emptying problems, and renal failure that may require multiple bladder surgeries.

To report the first known case of a completely intracorporeal robotic-assisted laparoscopic ileal ureter in the pediatric population, a 12-year-old boy with near-complete replacement of his right ureter with nephrogenic adenoma and resulting debilitating renal colic. Intracorporeal robotic-assisted laparoscopic ileal ureter was performed without complication. A detailed description of our surgical technique is included.

Objectives: To compare magnetic resonance imaging-targeted biopsy (MRITB) and conventional transrectal ultrasound-guided biopsy (TRUSGB) in the detection of prostate cancer (PCa) at our institution.

Methods: Our prospective registry of patients undergoing prostate MRITB from December 2010 to July 2013 was analyzed. Patients were matched one-to-one to patients who underwent TRUSGB based on the following characteristics: age, prostate-specific antigen level, prostate volume, race, family history of PCa, initial digital rectal examination (DRE), prior use of 5-alpha reductase inhibitor, and prior diagnosis of PCa.
