Recent evidence has shown that enhancing slow-wave activity (SWA) during sleep has positive effects on cognitive, metabolic, and autonomic function. We have developed a consumer, integrated device that automatically detects sleep stages from a single electroencephalogram (EEG) signal and delivers auditory stimulation in a closed-loop manner. The stimulation was delivered in 15-auditory tone blocks separated from each other by at least 15 seconds.

Introduction: To address the lack of medical education on lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ), and difference in sex development-affected (DSD-affected) individuals, the University of Louisville initiated the eQuality project. The mission of eQuality is to promote mastery of the skills, knowledge, and attitudes required for excellent care for patients within the LGBTQ, gender-nonconforming, and DSD community. This problem-based learning (PBL) case was implemented to address both medical and psychosocial factors that affect individuals born with DSD and their families.

Filifactor alocis is a recently recognized periodontal pathogen; however, little is known regarding its interactions with the immune system. As the first-responder phagocytic cells, neutrophils are recruited in large numbers to the periodontal pocket, where they play a crucial role in the innate defense of the periodontium. Thus, in order to colonize, successful periodontal pathogens must devise means to interfere with neutrophil chemotaxis and activation.
