Introduction: Acetabular component placement is critical for total hip arthroplasty (THA) stability and clinical outcomes. We investigated cup placement with robotic-arm assisted (RA) and conventional manual (CM) THA and compared patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) and dislocations.
Materials And Methods: Thirty-seven patients were randomized to undergo RA or CM primary THA.
Objectives: The adult-onset focal dystonias are characterized by over-active muscles leading to abnormal movements. For most cases, the etiology and pathogenesis remain unknown. In the current study, unbiased proteomics methods were used to identify potential changes in blood plasma proteins.

GM-1020 is a novel NMDAR antagonist that was developed to address these limitations of ketamine as a treatment for depression. Here, we present the preclinical characterization of GM-1020 alongside ketamine, for comparison.

Although 5-HT receptor activation mediates psychedelic effects, prototypical psychedelics activate both 5-HT-Gq/11 and β-arrestin2 transducers, making their respective roles unclear. To elucidate this, we develop a series of 5-HT-selective ligands with varying Gq efficacies, including β-arrestin-biased ligands.

Subjects with extralaryngeal onset of dystonia have exhibited spread to the larynx. Previous studies analyze the spread of other dystonias but emphasis has not been placed on LD.

Many strategies utilize an antibiotic-based agent, raising concerns of limited gram-negative antimicrobial coverage and the emergence of resistant bacterial strains. This study evaluated the clinical utility of a non-antibiotic, alcohol-based nasal decolonization agent in decreasing surgical site infection (SSI) rates after total joint arthroplasty.

Efficacy data of systemic bevacizumab for pulmonary RRP are limited. This study's objective was to characterize disease response of pulmonary RRP to systemic bevacizumab.

One potential cause is partial, intermittent, or complete thoracic duct occlusion (TDO). We report on a patient who presented with chronic, intermittent left supraclavicular swelling and abdominal pain that was relieved by thoracic duct angioplasty.

Methods: Eligible patients required ≥2 surgical interventions for RRP in the year preceding dosing. INO-3107 was administered by intramuscular (IM) injection followed by electroporation (EP) on weeks 0, 3, 6, and 9.
Purpose: This study sought to investigate whether a significant difference exists in attendance, cancellations, and no-shows between in-person therapy and telepractice. The authors hypothesized that telepractice no-show and cancellation rates would be less than in-person no-show and cancellation rates.
Method: This retrospective study manually reviewed and analyzed attendance, no-show, and cancellation data over a 3-month span of in-person-only visits (September 2019-November 2019) and a 3-month span of telepractice visits (September 2020-November 2020) conducted at the Emory Voice Center, a tertiary care practice in urban Atlanta, Georgia.

Background: In the 5 years that have passed since the publication of the 2018 International Consensus Statement on Allergy and Rhinology: Allergic Rhinitis (ICAR-Allergic Rhinitis 2018), the literature has expanded substantially. The ICAR-Allergic Rhinitis 2023 update presents 144 individual topics on allergic rhinitis (AR), expanded by over 40 topics from the 2018 document. Originally presented topics from 2018 have also been reviewed and updated.

Standard treatment involves debulking to improve voice and/or breathing. Non-surgical therapies are emerging in hopes of non-operative disease control.

Methods: A randomized trial of aspirin alone or aspirin/mobile compression pumps after total joint arthroplasty was performed.
Both stroke and smoking continue to be major public health crises in the United States, with stroke being the third and fourth leading cause of death among women and men, respectively. The goal of this review will be to provide clinicians a succinct overview regarding the epidemiology, economics, and biology of stroke in the setting of smoking and electronic cigarette use. Special attention will be given to the escalating public health crisis of electronic cigarette use, emphasizing mechanistic relationships of stroke and lung injury.

The 5-HT receptor is thought to be the primary target for psilocybin (4-phosphoryloxy-,-dimethyltryptamine) and other serotonergic hallucinogens (psychedelic drugs). Although a large amount of experimental work has been conducted to characterize the pharmacology of psilocybin and its dephosphorylated metabolite psilocin (4-hydroxy-,-dimethyltryptamine), there has been little systematic investigation of the structure-activity relationships (SAR) of 4-substituted tryptamine derivatives. In addition, structural analogs of psilocybin containing a 4-acetoxy group, such as 4-acetoxy-,-dimethyltryptamine (4-AcO-DMT), have appeared as new designer drugs, but almost nothing is known about their pharmacological effects.

Femoral deformities from malunion, prior osteotomy, and retained surgical implants all present unique challenges. Corrective osteotomy and hardware removal add significant morbidity to an operation that typically has a fast recovery.

The purpose of this retrospective cohort study was to see if a medial congruent (MC) polyethylene would offer satisfactory early outcomes and patient satisfaction after TKA.
Methods: We reviewed prospectively collected data on 327 TKAs using multiple bearings within the same implant system.
Oxinium implants are composed of a zirconium alloy with a hard ceramic surface formed by oxidization of the outer layer. This material has been shown to be an effective bearing surface for total joint arthroplasty and an alternative material for use in patients with metal hypersensitivity. Reports exist of metallosis due to unintended wear of Oxinium components from multiple mechanisms including polyethylene liner dissociation and joint instability.

This study evaluated opioid use after primary total joint replacement. We hypothesized that patients who underwent total hip arthroplasty (THA) use fewer opioids than patients who underwent total knee arthroplasty (TKA) and that both groups use fewer opioids than prescribed.

Study Design: Delphi method-based survey series.
Methods: A multidisciplinary, multi-institutional panel of physicians with experience using systemic bevacizumab for the treatment of RRP was established.
Objectives/hypothesis: Recurrent respiratory papillomatosis (RRP) is a rare, potentially life-threatening, disease that impacts the voice, breathing, and quality of life of patients. Frequent surgical interventions may be needed to control symptoms. We examined the safety and efficacy of utilizing parenteral bevacizumab in the management of severe RRP in adults.
