Background: Primary school teachers play a critical role as educators in imparting healthy eating behaviour and the importance of physical activity to prevent health issues. However, the teachers' health behaviors have not been studied much, particularly in Saudi Arabia. Understanding these factors is essential to developing interventions that enhance teachers' well-being and their ability to influence students positively.

Neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's disease (AD), Parkinson's disease (PD), Huntington's disease (HD), and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) are characterized by the progressive degeneration of neuronal structure and function, leading to severe cognitive and motor impairments. These conditions present significant challenges to healthcare systems, and traditional treatments often fail to account for genetic variability among patients, resulting in inconsistent therapeutic outcomes. Pharmacogenomics aims to tailor medical treatments based on an individual's genetic profile, thereby improving therapeutic efficacy and reducing adverse effects.

Alzheimer's Disease (AD) is the prevailing type of neurodegenerative illness, characterised by the accumulation of amyloid beta plaques. The symptoms associated with AD are memory loss, emotional variability, and a decline in cognitive functioning. To date, the pharmaceuticals currently accessible in the marketplace are limited to symptom management.

Drought poses significant risks to maize cultivation by impairing plant growth, water uptake and yield; nano priming offers a promising avenue to mitigate these effects by enhancing plant water relations, stress tolerance and overall productivity. In the current experiment, we tested a hypothesis that seed priming with iron oxide nanoparticles (n-FeO) can improve maize performance under water stress by improving its growth, water relations, yield and biochemical attributes. The experiment was conducted on a one main plot bisected into two subplots corresponding to the water and drought environments.

Article Synopsis
  • Innate lymphocytes, particularly microglial cells and astrocytes, are essential in starting neuroinflammation in the central nervous system and are significant in various neurological disorders like Alzheimer's Disease, Autism Spectrum Disorder, epilepsy, and multiple sclerosis.
  • The paper discusses how toxic protein buildup in Alzheimer's leads to immune system issues and synaptic dysfunction, while also addressing the role of glial cells in nervous system development in ASD, and their importance in epilepsy and MS.
  • It highlights various signaling pathways involved in neuroinflammation and the consequences of excitatory and inhibitory imbalances across these conditions, ultimately stressing the need for further research on glial cells in neurological diseases.

Article Synopsis
  • Neonatal mortality is a significant public health issue in developing countries, prompting a study in the Bareilly district to examine factors affecting newborn care practices.
  • The study included mothers who delivered in the last six months, utilizing a semi-structured questionnaire for data collection, analyzed through Microsoft Excel and SPSS.
  • Results indicated that home deliveries and unsafe feeding practices were more prevalent in rural settings, highlighting the need for increased awareness and improved newborn care practices among families, particularly regarding breastfeeding and bathing.

β−sitosterol is the most abundant type of phytosterol or plant sterol and can be found in various plant dietary sources including natural oils, soy products, and nuts. Numerous studies have demonstrated the potential therapeutic and clinical applications of β−sitosterol including lowering low-density lipoprotein and cholesterol levels, scavenging free radicals in the body, and interestingly, treating and preventing cancer. This study focuses on synthesizing and characterizing β−sitosterol encapsulated Alginate/Chitosan nanoparticles (β−sito−Alg/Ch/NPs) and evaluating their effectiveness in breast cancer treatment and their pharmacokinetic profile in vivo.

Food safety is a rising challenge worldwide due to the expanding population and the need to produce food to feed the growing population. At the same time, pesticide residues found in high concentrations in fresh agriculture pose a significant threat to food safety. Presently, crop output is being increased by applying herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, pesticides, fertilizers, nematicides, and soil amendments.

Article Synopsis
  • COVID-19 was declared a pandemic in March 2020, highlighting the importance of vaccine distribution for achieving herd immunity, but many countries struggled with vaccination coverage, prompting a study on beliefs and barriers to vaccination in Saudi Arabia.
  • Researchers aimed to assess knowledge and concerns about the COVID-19 vaccine and gauge vaccine acceptance among residents of Saudi Arabia through a web-based survey involving 796 participants.
  • Results showed that while 92% were aware of COVID vaccines, there was a notable vaccine hesitancy (33.1%), emphasizing the need for culturally relevant educational campaigns to address misconceptions and increase vaccination rates.
