Objectives: This study aims to create a vision of the future hospital to help healthcare leaders understand how changes in society and the healthcare system, compounded by climate change, could affect future hospital estate.
Study Design: The study is part of a larger project based on participatory backcasting aimed at providing integrated strategies for transitioning to a zero-carbon future and adapting to existing climate change through improved asset management.
Methods: The data presented in this paper were collected during a full-day workshop to construct the vision of the future hospital in 2050.
Objectives: To monitor the spread of invasive meningococcal disease due to group C of the clonal complex 10217 isolates beyond the sub-Saharan African meningitis belt.
Methods: Cases were confirmed by real-time polymerase chain reaction in blood or cerebrospinal fluid samples and further characterized by multi-locus sequence typing that defined sequence type and clonal complexes. Sequencing of gene (encoding the penicillin-binding protein 2) was also used to predict susceptibility to β-lactams.
Aiming at identifying the reservoir and contamination sources of Coxiella burnetii in Northern Algeria, we investigated the molecular presence of the bacterium in 599 samples (blood, placenta, liver, spleen, and uterus) collected from cattle, sheep, dogs and cats. Our qPCR results showed that 15/344 (4.36%) blood samples and six/255 (2.

Introduction: Triage is a dynamic and complex decision-making process to determine fair access to medical care in mass casualty situations. Triage takes place through healthcare settings including Intensive Care Units (ICUs). Triage governing principles have been subject to ethical debates for a long time specifically with the recent global pandemic of COVID-19.

This study aims to provide a nuanced understanding of the advantages and challenges of diverse ethical approaches in emergencies, to improve patient care.
Methods: A survey, created after several rounds of Delphi methodology, with 22 statements, was applied to 39 participants from nine different countries.
The Hospital Safety Index is a tool developed by the World Health Organization and the Pan American Health Organization in 2008 and updated in 2015. Although it is the most widely used instrument of its kind to assess the level of hospital preparedness, scientific literature on its application in real life is scarce. This study aimed to investigate the use of the Hospital Safety Index to assess disaster preparedness in healthcare facilities.

To date, no data on the genetic characteristics of isolates from HIV/AIDS patients in Algeria were available. This study aimed to identify species and subtype families prevalent in Algerian HIV-infected patients and contribute to the molecular epidemiology mapping of in the MENA region.

Thanks to the development and expanding use of flow cytometry and increased awareness, the diagnostic rate of IEI has markedly increased in Algeria the last decade.
Aim: This study aimed to describe a large cohort of Algerian patients with probable IEI and to determine their clinical characteristics and outcomes.

Objective: Literature has previously shown that healthcare staff redeployment has been widely implemented to build capacity, with little focus on nurses. This study aims to manage redeployment more effectively by capturing and scrutinizing nurses' redeployment experiences.
Methods: A cross-sectional short and structured interview was conducted.

Objectives: Acute movement disorders (AMD) are frequent in neurological and pediatric emergencies. Few studies analyzed AMD in children, none in Tunisia or other African country. The purpose of this study was to describe the peculiarities of AMD in a Tunisian pediatric population with a literature review.

In line with the French National Cancer III program, our cancer network set up a real-life cohort, which is independent of the pharmaceutical industry, for patients with colorectal cancer to monitor patient safety and quality of care and promote pharmacovigilance.
Materials And Methods: Panitumumab monotherapy was assessed in 243 patients with wild-type Kirsten rat sarcoma who were treated for metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) between July 2008 and December 2010 after prior chemotherapy using oxaliplatine and irinotecan.

The COVID-19 pandemic was declared by the World Health Organization on 11 March 2020. The rapid spread of SARS-CoV-2 required an equally rapid response from health-care organizations to find innovative ways to utilize the existing workforce to care for people with COVID-19. Using an evaluative case study, a unique insight into the collaborative allied health and nursing professions' response to COVID-19 at a specialist cardiothoracic hospital in the United Kingdom is presented.

We investigated Q fever infection in Febrile Spontaneous Abortions in women by using a serologic method (Immuno-Fluorescence Assay, IFA) and a molecular method (real-time quantitative PCR, qPCR) in Obstetric-Gynaecology (OB-GYN) services in two hospitals in Algiers. We included in the case group 380 women who experienced Febrile Spontaneous Abortion; the control group comprised 345 women who gave birth without any other infections or complications. Among the 725 women included, antibodies against were detected by IFA in three (03) cases patients; all control group samples were IFA negative.

This entity is mainly recognized in adults and very few cases were reported in children. We report on a paediatric case of anti-GAD encephalitis with severe presentation and uncontrollable dysautonomia.

Patients And Methods: We conducted a retrospective study over 11 years (2005-2016) including all patients diagnosed with pMS according to the International Pediatric Multiple Sclerosis Study Group (IPMSSG) criteria of 2012 and followed up in a tertiary care research center.
Introduction: Opsoclonus myoclonus syndrome (OMS) is a rare immune-mediated disorder characterized by opsoclonus, myoclonus, ataxia and behavioral changes. The aim of our study was to investigate the epidemiology, clinical features, etiological aspects and outcome of OMS in Tunisian children.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective study over 11years (2005-2016) including all patients aged under 18years who were managed for newly diagnosed OMS in a tertiary care research centre for children with neurological symptoms.
Pyridoxine-dependent epilepsy (PDE) is a rare autosomal recessive metabolic disease characterized by seizures in neonates or infants, which is unresponsive to antiepileptic drugs but controlled by pyridoxine. Without prompt treatment, continued seizures and severe encephalopathy result. Mutations in the ALDH7A1 gene encoding α-amino-adipic semialdehyde (α-AASA) dehydrogenase (antiquitin) have been identified as the cause of PDE.
