We present a 55-year-old woman with a palpable mass in the right upper abdomen. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography showed a highly vascularized and primary resectable tumor of the spleen. We performed an open splenectomy with locoregional lymphadenectomy.

Surgical stapling devices can considerably foster patient safety in colorectal surgery, but their misuse or malfunction encompass a unique risk of postoperative complications. The Digital Device Briefing Tool (DDBT) is a digital cognitive aid developed to enhance safe use of the Ethicon circular stapling device during colorectal resection.

Materials And Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted using prospective and current data on patients who underwent an open BPD-DS 6-12 years ago. Patients were stratified according to preoperative diabetes severity into 4 groups (group 1: oral antidiabetic drugs only; group 2: insulin < 5 years; group 3: insulin 5-10 years; group 4: insulin > 10 years).
Despite their considerable prevalence, dynamics of hospital-associated COVID-19 are still not well understood. We assessed the nature and extent of air- and surface-borne SARS-CoV-2 contamination in hospitals to identify hazards of viral dispersal and enable more precise targeting of infection prevention and control. PubMed, ScienceDirect, Web of Science, Medrxiv, and Biorxiv were searched for relevant articles until June 1, 2021.

Methods: Our prospective, randomized, controlled, multicenter study involved livers retrieved from patients in 2 German regions, and compared the outcomes of standard aortic perfusion to those of aortic perfusion combined with arterial ex situ BP.
Objective: To assess the role of registries in the postmarketing surveillance of surgical meshes.
Background: To date, surgical meshes are classified as group II medical devices. Class II devices do not require premarket clearance by clinical studies.
Transoral endoscopic thyroid surgery seems to be the logical consequence in the evolution of thyroid surgery. Animal and cadaver studies have shown that different endoscopic techniques can be performed in a safe and successful way. Presently, the minimally invasive aspect and cosmetic advantage seem to be the most important factor for the patients.

Methods: In this retrospective study, the radiation exposure of WBCT using a 16-slice multislice computed tomography scanner was evaluated.
Feasibility of secretin-augmented magnetic resonance (MR) pancreatography and dynamic contrast material-enhanced MR measurements for evaluation of functional status of pancreatic allografts was determined by quantifying the excretion and perfusion of the grafts. Ten patients were included prospectively before pancreatic transplantation. Dynamic T2-weighted sequences after secretin stimulation and dynamic contrast-enhanced T1-weighted gradient-echo sequences were performed.

Therefore, it has been claimed that the CD34+ fibrocyte may play an important role in host response to tissue damage. The objective of the present study was to analyze the presence and distribution of CD34+ fibrocytes and smooth muscle actin (SMA) reactive myofibroblasts in relation to the underlying pancreatic disease.
