Background: There is no established standard of care for treating central centrifugal cicatricial alopecia (CCCA), and treatment approaches vary widely.

Objective: To develop consensus statements regarding the use of various pharmacological therapies in treating adults with CCCA.

Background: Follicular unit excision is a favored minimally invasive hair transplantation method. However, it is suboptimal for many patients of African descent because of wide variations in hair and skin characteristics.

Objective: To evaluate the performance of a skin-responsive follicular unit excision device, which accommodates hair curliness, skin thickness, and firmness in patients of African descent.

Systemic retinoids, either independently or in combination with other treatment modalities, have been used with limited success, demonstrating transient clinical response and recurrence of lesions after cessation of therapy.
