There is little evidence for psychopharmacotherapy in pica. A few studies reported some benefit from the use of SSRIs, atypical antipsychotics and methylphenidate. That said, evidence to deploy these agents remains, at large, flimsy.

In recent concrete research, a novel category of coatings has emerged: polymers/nanoparticles blends. The efficacy of such coatings warrants extensive examination across various concrete mixtures, particularly those incorporating high-volume supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) to mitigate carbon footprints, an industry imperative. This study used three vulnerable concrete mixtures to assess the effectiveness of ethyl silicate and high-molecular-weight methyl methacrylate blended with 2.

Background: Vaccine hesitancy is a major obstacle to the large efforts made by governments and health organizations toward achieving successful COVID-19 vaccination programs. Healthcare worker's (HCWs) acceptance or refusal of the vaccine is an influencing factor to the attitudes of their patients and general population. This study aimed to report the acceptance rates for COVID-19 vaccines among HCWs in Arab countries and identify key factors driving the attitudes of HCWs in the Arab world toward vaccines.

Article Synopsis
  • - This study explored how temperature polarization (TP) and concentration polarization (CP) impact the effectiveness of solar-powered air-gap membrane distillation (SP-AGMD) under different operating conditions, using a mathematical model to analyze key factors like temperature and concentration.
  • - Researchers simulated the SP-AGMD system with TRNSYS, employing a solar evacuated tube collector (ETC) for water heating, while using photovoltaics to power circulation pumps and coolers.
  • - Statistical analysis revealed that flow rate (M) significantly influenced productivity and heat transfer, with a dramatic 99% increase in productivity at 60°C and 12 L/h flow rate, while the system’s temperature peaked at 85°C when solar radiation reached

Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder and misophonia seem to be overrepresented in autism spectrum disorder. Literature is mute on psychopharmacotherapy in these complex presentations. Here, authors report on a challenging case of low-functioning ASD child with comorbid ARFID and misophonia that responded favorably to a low-dose risperidone.

Objectives: To determine the detection rates of hysterosalpingogram (HSG), transvaginal 2D ultrasound (TV 2D US), transvaginal 3D ultrasound (TV 3D US) in diagnosing of incomplete uterine septum (IUS) and significant arcuate uterine anomaly (AUA).

Methods: This retrospective cohort study included patients with infertility or recurrent pregnancy loss (516) that were found to have IUS (317) or significant AUA (199) on diagnostic hysteroscopy (DHS). We compared the detection rate of the various radiological tests in all patients with documented IUS or AUA on DHS.

Objective: To revive the use of the Kahn Uterine Trigger Cannula to overcome limitations associated with technical difficulties during hysterosalpingography (HSG) using the disposable balloon HSG catheter.

Method: A case series was conducted of 17 patients who encountered technically difficult or incomplete HSG study while using a disposable HSG balloon catheter, also leading to false-positive findings. Nine patients underwent a repeat HSG using a Kahn Uterine Trigger Cannula (Group 1).

Burgeoning body of evidence from neuroscience is pouring in highlighting a potential association between gut microbiota with the pathophysiology of depression and anxiety. Manipulation of gut microbiota may be then useful to decode this role and to provide novel therapeutics for major depressive disorder (MDD), developing microbiota-related biomarkers to stratify patients at risk and to delineate more homogeneous biotypes of MDD.

Metabolic syndrome (MBS) is a widespread disease that has strongly related to unhealthy diet and low physical activity, which initiate more serious conditions such as obesity, cardiovascular diseases and type 2 diabetes mellitus. This study aimed to examine the therapeutic effects of morin, as one of the flavonoids constituents, which widely exists in many herbs and fruits, against some metabolic and hepatic manifestations observed in MBS rats and the feasible related mechanisms. MBS was induced in rats by high fructose diet feeding for 12 weeks.

Background: To determine the safety and efficacy of hysteroscopic resection of uterine leiomyoma embedded at the base of a uterine septum.

Methods: This case series included 11 patients with infertility or recurrent pregnancy loss who were found to have a uterine septum (one septate and 10 sub-septate) and a uterine leiomyoma embedded at the base of the uterine septum. All patients underwent a hysteroscopic division of the uterine septum and hysteroscopic resection of the uterine leiomyoma.

To investigate whether recombinant AMH (rAMH) is able to decrease cellular proliferation/apoptosis in luteinized granulosa cells (GCs) through hormonal regulation, a primary culture of GCs was established from GCs obtained at time of oocyte retrieval from follicular fluid of 3 patients. Cells were seeded in well cell culture plates at a density of 100,000 cells/well in medium and treated with rAMH 20 ng/ml (rAMH group), or phosphate-buffered saline (PBS-control group), for 24 h. Total RNA was extracted from all cells, followed by cDNA synthesis and real-time RT-PCR to quantify the expression levels of AMH, AMH-R2, FSH-R, inhibin B, cell proliferation (Ki67), and apoptosis (Caspase 3).

Background: This retrospective study compares the safety and efficacy of temporary ovarian suspension (TOS) to the anterior abdominal wall using absorbable versus non-absorbable suture after operative laparoscopy to elevate the ovaries away from the ovarian fossa to reduce postoperative adhesion development.

Methods: Patients (n=152) underwent TOS to the anterior abdominal wall at the conclusion of surgery between 1998 and 2017. One hundred forty-two patients underwent operative laparoscopy for advanced stages of endometriosis (93.

Objective: To determine if elective single blastocyst transfer (e-SBT) compromises pregnancy outcomes compared to double blastocyst transfer (DBT) in patients with favorable reproductive potential.

Methods: This Randomized Control Trial included 50 patients with SBT (Group 1) and 50 patients with DBT (Group 2). All women were <35 years and had favorable reproductive potential.

Introduction: It is well known that cervical incompetence and associated preterm birth confers greater morbidity and mortality on birth outcomes, with an additional increased risk of cervical incompetence in higher order gestations. While the pathophysiology of cervical incompetence has yet to be elucidated, research has identified risk factors and assessed outcomes of numerous interventions. Cervical cerclage has been shown, in certain situations involving singleton pregnancies, to improve outcomes.

Article Synopsis
  • This study compares pregnancy outcomes from two methods of frozen embryo transfer: modified natural cycles (NC-FET) and hormonally controlled cycles (HC-FET).
  • The research involved 428 patients undergoing a total of 493 cycles, focusing on outcomes like clinical pregnancy and delivery rates, with careful protocols for each method.
  • Results showed similar clinical pregnancy (54.3% for NC-FET vs. 52.5% for HC-FET) and delivery rates (47.2% for NC-FET vs. 43.6% for HC-FET), indicating both methods are effective for transferring frozen-thawed blastocysts.
