Aim: To quantify the economic burden associated with tobacco smoking among smokers aged 30-69 years, and second-hand smokers (SHS) aged 15-69 years in Jordan.
Materials And Methods: A prevalence-based analysis was conducted in alignment with the Economics of Tobacco Toolkit developed by the WHO. The time-horizon of the analysis was one year (2019).
Levofloxacin (LVX) is among the fluoroquinolones antibiotics that has also been studied in vitro and in vivo for its anticancer effects. In this study, we used LVX and novel LVX thionated derivatives; compounds 2 and 3, to evaluate their antioxidant activity, aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH) enzymes activity inhibition, and anticancer activity. Objective: Limitations and side effects associated with current anti-diabetic treatments have necessitated the search for new therapeutic alternatives. This study aimed to explore the combined use of resveratrol (RVT) and established anti-diabetic drug pioglitazone (PGZ) against streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetes mellitus (DM).
Materials And Methods: STZ was supplemented daily to Sprague-Dawley rats to induce DM.

The identification and quantification of functional cytochromes P450 (CYPs) in biological samples is proving important for robust analyses of drug efficacy and metabolic disposition. In this study, a novel CYP activity-based probe was rationally designed and synthesised, demonstrating selective binding of CYP isoforms. The dependence of probe binding upon the presence of NADPH permits the selective detection of functionally active CYP.
