As part of our surveys of the invasive malaria vector in four Sudanese states, including North and South Kordofan, Sennar, and White Nile, we collected 166 larvae. Our morphological identification confirmed that 30% of the collected mosquito samples were species, namely and , while the 117 specimens were (39%), (32%), (9%), (9%), (6%), (3%), and (3%). Considering the serious threat of emergence for the public health in the area and our limited resources, we prioritized samples for further genomic analysis.

Malaria is a serious threat to global health, with over [Formula: see text] of the cases reported in 2020 by the World Health Organization in African countries, including Sudan. Sudan is a low-income country with a limited healthcare system and a substantial burden of malaria. The epidemiology of malaria in Sudan is rapidly changing due to factors including the rapidly developing resistance to drugs and insecticides among the parasites and vectors, respectively; the growing population living in humanitarian settings due to political instability; and the recent emergence of Anopheles stephensi in the country.

We present an 18-year-old female from South Sudan presented with right fingertips ulceration and black discolouration associated with bilateral wrist/metacarpophalangeal joints pain for five months. The ulceration began at the tip of the right middle finger and gradually progressed to involve the rest of the hand and was associated with agonizing pain. A Doppler study of the right upper limb revealed thrombosis of the antecubital portion of the basilar, ulnar, and part of the distal radial arteries.

Nanofluids are gaining attention as an attractive solution for the sustainable machining of difficult-to-cut materials. Despite the enormous recent work in the literature, there are still contradictions concerning the effect of different preparation factors on the characteristics of nanofluids and the underlying mechanisms governing them. In the present study, the effect of varying the preparation factors, namely, multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) concentration, sonication time, and surfactant amount on various nanofluid characteristics and the interactions among these characteristics were studied.

Background: Malaria is a life-threatening public health problem globally with particularly heavy burden in the sub-Saharan Africa including Sudan. The understanding of feeding preference of malaria vectors on different hosts is a major challenge for hindering the transmission cycle of malaria. In this study, blood meals taken by blood-fed Anopheles mosquitoes collected from the field in malaria endemic areas of Sudan were analysed for source of blood meal and malaria parasite presence.

Bertolotti Syndrome is a diagnosis given to patients experiencing pain caused by the presence of a lumbosacral transitional vertebra (LSTV), which is characterized by enlargement of the L5 transverse process(es), with potential pseudoarticulation or fusion with the sacrum. The Castellvi classification system is commonly utilized to grade LSTVs based on the degree of contact between the L5 transverse process(es) and the sacrum. LSTVs present a diagnostic dilemma to the treating clinician, as they may remain unidentified on plain x-rays and even advanced imaging; additionally, even if the malformation is identified, patients with a LSTV may be asymptomatic or have nonspecific symptoms, such as low back pain with or without radicular symptoms.

Arthropod borne flaviviral diseases are a major public health concern in the tropics. However, the majority of cases are associated with Dengue virus (DENV), Yellow Fever virus (YFV), West Nile virus (WNV) and Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) infections. Despite their profound clinical and economic impact among large sections of the population there is a lack of effective treatment against these diseases.

We have determined the nucleotide sequence of DNA extracted from pustules, saliva, and blood of camels presenting with contagious ecthyma, in Bahrain and also from a sample (SACamel) of infected tissue from a camel that had presented with contagious ecthyma in 1998 in Saudi Arabia (1). Sequence homologies and phylogenetic analysis showed that this extracted DNA was more closely related to Pseudocowpox virus (PCPV) than Orf virus (ORFV), which infects sheep, goats, and other animal species. The phylogeny also demonstrated that PCPV in Arabian camels was phylogenetically distinct from, and circulates independently of, ruminant-associated PCPV from Europe.

Rabbit haemorrhagic disease virus (RHDV) emerged in 1984 in China and subsequently a single strain apparently dispersed worldwide killing millions of rabbits. Two isolates that caused outbreaks in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain have been sequenced and analysed phylogenetically. The Saudi Arabian lineage is directly descended from the Chinese strain, but the Bahrain isolate occupies a distinct and more divergent lineage than the Chinese virus implying that epidemic RHDV strains have emerged at least twice during the past 20 years and are co-circulating in both domestic and wild rabbits.
