This paper proposes a new method for recognizing, extracting, and processing Phase-Resolved Partial Discharge (PRPD) patterns from two-dimensional plots to identify specific defect types affecting electrical equipment without human intervention while retaining the principals that make PRPD analysis an effective diagnostic technique. The proposed method does not rely on training complex deep learning algorithms which demand substantial computational resources and extensive datasets that can pose significant hurdles for the application of on-line partial discharge monitoring. Instead, the developed Cosine Cluster Net (CCNet) model, which is an image processing pipeline, can extract and process patterns from any two-dimensional PRPD plot before employing the cosine similarity function to measure the likeness of the patterns to predefined templates of known defect types.

Background: HPV 16 is the primary etiologic agent of cervical cancer and the presence of L1 and E6 oncoproteins are largely responsible for its virulence. It was the objective of this study to identify HPV16 isolates from suspected cases of cervical cancer at Specialist Hospital Sokoto and Sir Yahaya Memorail Hospiatal Birnin Kebbi, Nigeria and also to identify potent HPV16's L1 protein inhibitor using in silico analysis.

A new sesquiterpene lactone of the keto-hirsutinolide type, 13-acetoxy-1(4),5(6)-diepoxy-8-(senecioyloxy)-3-oxo-1,7(11)-germacradiene-12,6-olide , was isolated from the hexane extract of its leaves, in addition to the known 13-acetoxy-1,4-epoxy-8-(senecioyloxy)-3-oxo-1,5,7(11)-germacratriene-12,6-olide . The present study was designed to review the antidiabetic potential of anthraquinones (AQs) with emphasis on the extent of blood glucose reduction, the half maximal inhibitory concentration values (in vitro studies), the proposed mechanisms of action, and the structure activity relationship studies. We sourced relevant data from the major scientific databases (Pubmed, Science Direct, Medline, and Google Scholar). The increasing incidence of multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacterial pathogens has focused research on the suppression of bacterial virulence via quorum sensing inhibition strategies, rather than the conventional antimicrobial approach. The anti-virulence potential of eudesmanolide sesquiterpene lactones previously isolated from Vernonia blumeoides was assessed by inhibition of quorum sensing and in silico molecular docking. Four eudesmanolide sesquiterpene lactones (1-4) were isolated from the aerial parts of Vernonia blumeoides used in Nigerian ethnomedicine for the treatment of diarrhea and malaria. This study assesses the 'radio-ecological' impacts of Fukushima nuclear accident on non-human biota using the ERICA Tool, which adopts an internationally verified methodology. The paper estimates the impacts of the accident on terrestrial and marine biota based on the environmental data reported in literature for Japan, China, South Korea and the USA. Discernible impacts have been detected in the marine biota around Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant.
