Study Design: The study design consisted of a 12-week multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, prospective trial in parallel groups.
Setting: The setting in which the study was conducted comprised 10 clinical centers across the Russian Federation.
Background: Chronic cough declines quality of life and increases risk of complications in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Reducing cough severity and associated negative effects is important therapeutic goal in COPD. Rengalin with anti- and protussive activity is based on technologically processed antibodies to bradykinin, histamine and morphine.

The loosing process is connected with immuno-inflammatory reactions in periarthric tissues on products' wear and modified proteins which activate the bone resorption and/or proliferative reactions as ectopic bone formation. Systemic effects of artificial joints can be connected with migration of metal ions and primated in periarthric tissues of immunocompetent cells.

Interdependence of clinical criteria and level of protease inhibitors were evaluated, as well as the basic components of hemostasis. The best effectiveness of treatment in carrying out chemical pleurodesis was demonstrated, especially when 4% sodium bicarbonate solution was used.

The following methods of the action on the patient are distinguished: psychotherapy, pharmacotherapy, remedial gymnastics, correction of respiratory disorders according to the principle of the biological feed-back mechanism, recurrent respiration or carbon dioxide inhalations. Emphasis is laid on the importance of an individual approach to the institution of the treatment measures.

It was shown that submaximum physical exertion was followed by marked bronchial obstruction in 60% of patients. A degree of bronchospasm caused by physical exertion was in direct relation to a patient's age, the duration of disease and a period from the onset of disease.
