Background: Cytoreductive surgery with Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (CR-HIPEC) is a locorregional surgical therapy applied in patients with peritoneal-only metastatic disease of primary abdominal malignancies. Integrated in a multimodal treatment, CR-HIPEC is associated with increased overall survival. In cases of peritoneal-site only relapse, it may be carried out more than once.

This study analyzed ten fish species (three farmed and seven wild-caught) to determine their centesimal composition (assessed by AOAC methods) and lipid profile (analyzed by GC-MS). Notably, "tambatinga" (farmed) and "piraputanga" (wild-caught) stood out with 28.66 % and 26.

Sickle cell disease (SCD) is an autosomal recessive haemoglobinopathy, which manifests as multisystem ischaemia and infarction, as well as haemolytic anaemia. The morphological changes of red blood cells (RBCs) that promote ischaemia/infarction as the main multi-systemic manifestation, with associated vasculopathy, may also lead to haemorrhage and fat embolisation. Bone infarctions, whether of the skull or spine, are relatively common with subsequent increased infectious susceptibility.

Background Cytoreductive surgery plus hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (CRS + HIPEC) is an effective treatment option for appropriately selected patients with peritoneal carcinomatosis. Our aim was to analyze a multidisciplinary approach and to study the perioperative risk factors associated with morbidity and mortality. Methods We reviewed all patients who underwent CRS + HIPEC from January 2019 till December 2020 at our oncologic center.

Introduction: Management of positive sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) in breast cancer remains a matter of debate. Our aim was to evaluate the incidence and identify predictive factors of non-sentinel lymph node metastases.

Methods: Retrospective review of all cN0 breast cancer patients treated between January 2013 and December 2017, with positive SLNB that were submitted to ALND.

Introduction: The 8th edition of the American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) TNM classification for gastric cancer introduced changes, mainly in stage III, with the incorporation of the pN3 sub-classification in the final staging group. The goal was to compare the 7th and 8th editions to evaluate the discriminative capacity of the new edition.

Methods: This study was a retrospective review of patients with gastric cancer treated with surgery in 2013 and 2014.

Tailgut cysts (TGCs) are rare congenital entities arising from remnants of the embryological postanal primitive gut. Malignancy in TGCs is rare, with the majority being adenocarcinomas and carcinoid tumors. A search of the published literature yielded only 27 cases of adenocarcinoma developing in TGCs.

Introduction: Hibernoma is a very rare benign tumor that arises from vestigial remnants of fetal brown adipose cells and usually manifests as a slowly growing, painless soft-tissue mass. It mainly occurs in adults, in the third and fourth decade of life, slightly more in women and is commonly seen in the subcutaneous regions of the back, neck, thighs and retroperitoneum. It was originally described in 1906 by Merkel, who named it "pseudolipoma".

Aim: To determine whether the amounts of circulating DNA could discriminate between breast cancer patients and healthy individuals by using real-time PCR quantification methodology.

Methods: Our standard protocol for quantification of cell-free plasma DNA involved 175 consecutive patients with breast cancer and 80 healthy controls.

Results: We found increased levels of circulating DNA in breast cancer patients compared to control individuals (105.
