Article Synopsis
  • - The study introduces a scoring tool called the Plate Objective Scoring Tool (POST) to precisely assess urethral plate (UP) characteristics, but concerns about variability in identifying landmarks from images hold back its effectiveness.
  • - The objective is to enhance the objectivity and reliability of UP appraisals by using a deep learning algorithm on a dataset of images to automate landmark detection for better surgical decision-making in hypospadias repair.
  • - Results show the model accurately predicts the glans area and POST landmarks with high precision, indicating that machine learning can effectively standardize UP assessments and improve surgical practices in hypospadiology.

Optimal strategies for integration of clinical practice guidelines into electronic medical records and its impact on processes of care and clinical outcomes in diabetic patients are not well understood. A systematic review of CINAHL, MEDLINE, PubMed, and Cochrane Library databases in August 2016, November 2017, and June 2020 was conducted. Studies investigating integration of diabetes guidelines into ambulatory care electronic medical records reporting quantitative results were included.

In this paper, we propose three ideas to improve a kinematic estimation algorithm for total knee arthroplasty. The first is a two-step estimation algorithm that improves estimation accuracy by excluding certain assumptions needed for the pattern matching algorithm reported by Banks and Hodge. The second is incorporating a 3D geometric articulation model into the algorithm to improve estimation accuracy substantially for the depth translation, and to introduce contact points' trajectories between the articular surfaces.
