The objective of this study was to evaluate the accuracy and feasibility of intraoperative frozen section analysis of samples harvested with a trephine drill from the bone resection margins to identify malignancy. Thirty-five patients who were diagnosed with locally advanced oral squamous cell carcinoma involving the mandible were included in this study. After tumour resection, bone samples were collected from the resection margin of the specimen using a trephine drill.

[Laparoscopic splenectomy in our practice at the University of Szeged Department of Surgery].

Since its introduction in 1991, laparoscopic splenectomy has been considered the gold standard in spleen surgery, and the advantages of this technique over open surgery are indisputable. The technique was initiated in the Department of Surgery, University of Szeged in 1994 and since then our working group has gained one of the greatest experiences in this field in Hungary. Based on our results, similarly to literature data, it may be established that laparoscopic splenectomy can be considered a surgical procedure with low morbidity after gaining the necessary experience.

Metabolic Syndrome in Psoriasis Is Associated With Upregulation of CXCL16 on Monocytes and a Dysbalance in Innate Lymphoid Cells.

Psoriasis is frequently associated with the metabolic syndrome and occurs more often in obese individuals. In order to understand innate immune mechanisms mediating this inflammatory pattern we investigated expression of the chemokine and lipid scavenger receptor CXCL16 in patients with psoriasis and associated comorbidities. CXCL16 expression was enhanced on all monocyte subsets in psoriatic patients compared with healthy controls and positively correlated with psoriasis activity and severity index, body mass index and the risk for cardiovascular disease indicated by PROCAM score.

Ordered aperiodic structures have been of interest to the crystallographic community for several decades, and study of them has in turn led to the study of lattice substitution systems, model sets and chair tilings. In this work a color code for chair tilings in arbitrary dimensions is presented. In two and three dimensions, it is expedient to translate the digital codes into colors.
