Aphids cause massive agricultural losses through direct damage or as pathogen vectors. Control often relies on insecticides, which are expensive and not selective. An interesting alternative is to use aphid sex pheromones nepetalactone (NON) and nepetalactol (NOL) to interfere with aphid mating or attract aphid predators.

In mutants with multiple mutated F5H alleles, sinapine in seed meal was reduced by up to 100%, accompanied by a sharp reduction in the S-monolignol content of lignin without causing lodging or stem break. A lower S-lignin monomer content in stems can contribute to improved stem degradability allowing new uses of stems.

Mechanical stimulation triggers rapid gene expression changes and affects plant appearance (thigmomorphogenesis) and flowering. Previous studies reported the importance of jasmonic acid (JA) in touch signaling.
View Article and Find Full Text PDF(Camelina) is an oilseed crop that in recent years has gained importance due to its closeness to the plant model organism (Arabidopsis), its low agronomical requirements, and the ability to grow under temperate conditions. To explore all the agronomical and biotechnological possibilities of this crop, it is important to evaluate the usability of the molecular procedures currently available for plants. One of the main tools for plant genetic modification and genetic studies is stable plant transformation.
