Epicardial implantation of a lumenless active fixation lead in a neonate.

Background: We present a case of epicardial pacemaker implantation in a low birth weight newborn using a lumenless active fixation lead.

Results: We found that superior pacing parameters can be obtained by implanting a lumenless active fixation lead into the epicardium, but more evidence is needed to support this hypothesis.
