Objective: This study aimed to investigate the low-intensity pulsed ultrasound (LIPUS) therapeutic effects on knee joint dysfunction after immobilization following trauma and to identify the optimum LIPUS intensity and duration.
Methods: A knee post-traumatic joint contracture (PTJC) model was established in male Wistar rats divided into three groups: front irradiation (n = 4), medial irradiation (n = 3), and sham (n = 3). LIPUS irradiation was performed for 20 min/day (30 mW/cm [spatial average temporal average] SATA, 1 MHz, duty cycle of 20%, 5 times/week, for 2 weeks).
Objectives: The gastroesophageal junction (GEJ) consists of various anatomical components that together form a barrier to prevent reflux of gastric content. This study introduces a novel phase concept to dynamically evaluate the antireflux barrier (ARB) during endoscopy and analyzes its functionality.
Methods: We reviewed previously the recorded endoscopic videos of subjects who underwent the endoscopic pressure study integrated system (EPSIS) from February to April 2024 for indications other than gastroesophageal reflux disease symptoms.
We propose a novel method for calculating the effective dose that closely reflects the individual attenuation, utilizing two conversion coefficients. A total of 180 adult patients who underwent abdomen-pelvis computed tomography were categorized into six groups based on sex and body type. The effective dose was calculated by multiplying the dose-length product with the effective dose conversion coefficient and the size-specific dose estimate conversion factor.

We evaluated the risk for development of metachronous GC following ER for GC based on genetic polymorphisms for alcohol dehydrogenase-1B (ADH1B) and aldehyde dehydrogenase-2 (ALDH2), as well as alcohol consumption and smoking habits.
Methods: We studied 77 patients who underwent ER for GC (median follow-up of 84 months).
Objectives: To understand the recent prevalence and time trends of infection rates in the Japanese population.
Design: Repeated cross-sectional study.
Participants: A total of 22 120 workers (age: 35-65 years) from one Japanese company, who underwent serum antibody tests in a health check-up between 2008 and 2018.
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) hemorrhaging/rupture is a rare adverse effect of lenvatinib, and only limited pathological examinations have been reported. This report presents the case of a 69-year-old man who suffered from cardiac arrest and died 7 days after starting lenvatinib treatment for HCC, with an autopsy subsequently performed. Crack and coagulated blood were observed in the largest tumor.

Background: endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is a first-line procedure for biliary drainage in patients with acute cholangitis, and there are no studies focused on very urgent ERCP within several hours of hospital arrival. This study aimed to elucidate the use of very urgent ERCP for non-severe acute cholangitis.
Methods: this retrospective observational study included patients with non-severe acute cholangitis who underwent ERCP between April 2011 and June 2020 in our institution.
Lymphoepithelioma-like carcinoma is a poorly differentiated carcinoma with prominent lymphoid infiltration occurring in various organs but is exceedingly rare in the colorectal region. This malignancy is frequently associated with Epstein-Barr virus (EBV). Here we report a case of EBV-associated lymphoepithelioma-like carcinoma of the cecum in an 84-year-old male who presented with occult blood.

However, none of the methods can completely prevent DB. We hypothesized that DB could be prevented by a modified search, coagulation, and clipping (MSCC) method for patients at low risk for DB and by combining the use of polyglycolic acid sheets and fibrin glue with the MSCC method (PMSCC method) for patients at high risk for DB (antibleeding [ABI] strategy).
