Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) is the most common chronic rheumatic disease of childhood, with outcomes including pain, prolonged dependence on medications, and disability. Parents of children with JIA report being overwhelmed by the volume of information in the patient education materials that are available to them. This paper addresses this educational gap by applying an artificial intelligence method, based on an extended model of argument, to design and implement a dialogue system that allows users get the educational material they need, when they need it.

Chronic diseases are the leading cause of morbidity, disability and mortality worldwide. It is well established that the majority of chronic diseases can be prevented by targeting modifiable lifestyle-related risk factors. Thus, early risk assessment and mitigation at the individual level can significantly reduce the health and economic burden of chronic diseases.

Assisted Ambient Living (AAL) focuses on self-sufficiency, assisting disabled people to perform activities of daily living (ADL) by automating assistive actions in smart environments. Importantly, AAL provides opportunities for dynamically guiding patients with a cognitive decline through an ADL. Activity recognition is a pivotal task since it allows detecting when an ADL is started by recognizing its constituent activities.

Developmental delay is a deviation from the regular development of normative milestones during childhood. Early stimulation is a standardized and straightforward technique to support children with developmental delays (aged 0-3 years) in reaching basic motor skills, which are essential for the execution of everyday activities, such as playing, feeding and locomotion. In doing so, early stimulation reduces the chances of permanent motor impairment, thus allowing the child to live a more functional life.

Dark matter particles, if sufficiently light, may be produced in decays of the Higgs boson. This Letter presents a statistical combination of searches for H→invisible decays where H is produced according to the standard model via vector boson fusion, Z(ℓℓ)H, and W/Z(had)H, all performed with the ATLAS detector using 36.1  fb^{-1} of pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy of sqrt[s]=13  TeV at the LHC.

Affective lability, defined as the propensity to experience excessive and unpredictable changes in mood, has been proposed as a potential transdiagnostic predictor of major mood and psychotic disorders. A parental diagnosis of bipolar disorder has been associated with increased affective lability in offspring. However, the association between affective lability and family history of other mood and psychotic disorders has not been examined.

Background: Children of parents with mood and psychotic disorders are at elevated risk for a range of behavioral and emotional problems. However, as the usual reporter of psychopathology in children is the parent, reports of early problems in children of parents with mood and psychotic disorders may be biased by the parents' own experience of mental illness and their mental state.

Methods: Independent observers rated psychopathology using the Test Observation Form in 378 children and youth between the ages of 4 and 24 (mean = 11.

Healthcare is a living system that generates a significant volume of heterogeneous data. As healthcare systems are pivoting to value-based systems, intelligent and interactive analysis of health data is gaining significance for health system management, especially for resource optimization whilst improving care quality and health outcomes. Health data analytics is being influenced by new concepts and intelligent methods emanating from artificial intelligence and big data.

This Letter presents a search for the production of a long-lived neutral particle (Z_{d}) decaying within the ATLAS hadronic calorimeter, in association with a standard model (SM) Z boson produced via an intermediate scalar boson, where Z→ℓ^{+}ℓ^{-} (ℓ=e, μ). The data used were collected by the ATLAS detector during 2015 and 2016 pp collisions with a center-of-mass energy of sqrt[s]=13  TeV at the Large Hadron Collider and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 36.1±0.

A search for doubly charged scalar bosons decaying into boson pairs is presented. It uses a data sample from proton-proton collisions corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36.1 fb collected by the ATLAS detector at the LHC at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV in 2015 and 2016.

Hepcidin, belonging to the β-defensin family, was isolated for the first time from plasma and human urine. It is a cationic peptide, rich in cysteine bound with four disulfide bridges, which plays a major role in innate immunity and iron homeostasis. Some vertebrate species have multiple hepcidin homolog genes and each contains only one copy that functions as an iron regulator except hepcidin sequences in the pigeon (Columba livia).

In order to ensure global food security a rationale approach is required to control all those factors which directly or indirectly affect the food productivity. The neglected helminthic diseases alone are responsible for huge economic losses to the agrarian stakeholders. The problem is further compounded by the emerging drug resistance in flukes against the commonly used anthelmintics like triclabendazole.

Tissue engineering (TE) is an emerging field where alternate/artificial tissues or organ substitutes are implanted to mimic the functionality of damaged or injured tissues. Earlier efforts were made to develop natural, synthetic, or semisynthetic materials for skin equivalents to treat burns or skin wounds. Nowadays, many more tissues like bone, cardiac, cartilage, heart, liver, cornea, blood vessels, and so forth are being engineered using 3-D biomaterial constructs or scaffolds that could deliver active molecules such as peptides or growth factors.

Vaso-occlusive crisis, a common painful complication of sickle cell disease, is a complex process triggered by intercellular adhesive interactions among blood cells and the endothelium in all human organs (e.g., the oxygen-rich lung as well as hypoxic systems such as liver and kidneys).

A combination of the searches for pair-produced vectorlike partners of the top and bottom quarks in various decay channels (T→Zt/Wb/Ht, B→Zb/Wt/Hb) is performed using 36.1  fb^{-1} of pp collision data at sqrt[s]=13  TeV with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The observed data are found to be in good agreement with the standard model background prediction in all individual searches.

Several challenges are associated with e-learning systems, the most significant of which is the lack of student motivation in various course activities and for various course materials. In this study, we used machine learning (ML) algorithms to identify low-engagement students in a social science course at the Open University (OU) to assess the effect of engagement on student performance. The input variables of the study included , , , and the number of clicks on virtual learning environment (VLE) activities, which included , , , , , , , , during the first course assessment.

This Letter presents a normalized differential cross-section measurement in a fiducial phase-space region where interference effects between top-quark pair production and associated production of a single top quark with a W boson and a b-quark are significant. Events with exactly two leptons (ee, μμ, or eμ) and two b-tagged jets that satisfy a multiparticle invariant mass requirement are selected from 36.1  fb^{-1} of proton-proton collision data taken at sqrt[s]=13  TeV with the ATLAS detector at the LHC in 2015 and 2016.

Background: In the current study, we present an integrated in silico cheminformaticsmolecular docking approach to screen and test potential therapeutic compounds against viruses. Fluoroquinolones have been shown to inhibit HCV replication by targeting HCV NS3-helicase. Based on this observation, we hypothesized that natural analogs of fluoroquinolones will have similar or superior inhibitory potential while having potentially fewer adverse effects.

Background: Lifestyle changes and the adoption of healthy behaviours are well established recommendations for the management of hypertension-a risk factor for cardiovascular and kidney disease. Mobile health interventions offer unique advantages and novel approaches to helping individuals make and maintain such behaviour changes; however, current interventions often lack theoretical and scientific grounding.

Objective: The goal of this study is to effectively model the knowledge, concepts and relationships relevant to the management of a chronic illness like hypertension, and to implement this knowledge model within a mobile self-management application that can be used by patients.
