Migration is an essential characteristic of cells that occurs during many physiological and pathological processes. Astrocytes represent the most abundant cell type in the adult central nervous system (CNS), that play a crucial role in various functions such as guiding and supporting neuronal migration during development and maintaining brain homeostasis at adulthood. Astrocytes specifically synthesize and release endozepines, a family of regulatory peptides, including the octadecaneuropeptide (ODN).

A Late Recurrent Metastatic Breast Cancer Mimicking Primary Pancreatic Cancer: Case Report.

Metastasis to the pancreas from malignant tumors is a rare event, representing only 1% to 2% of all pancreatic neoplasms. They occur in 2 different clinicopathological settings: as a manifestation in widespread metastatic disease or as an isolated mass in the pancreas. We report the case of a 41-year-old woman who had a history of invasive lobular breast cancer treated with radical surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy.

The perception of burnout and related influencing factors in Tunisian oncology nurses.

Background: Oncology nurses constantly provide emotional support to patients and are confronted with their suffering, which represents chronic stress leading to the development of burnout syndrome.

Aim: This study aimed to evaluate the prevalence of burnout and identify associated factors in a sample of oncology nurses.

The continued exploration of the diversity of lactic acid bacteria in little-studied ecological niches represents a fundamental activity to understand the diffusion and biotechnological significance of this heterogeneous class of prokaryotes. In this study, () strains were isolated from Tunisian vegetable sources, including fermented olive and fermented pepper, and from dead locust intestines, which were subsequently evaluated for their antimicrobial activity against foodborne pathogenic bacteria, including O157:H7 CECT 4267 and CECT 4031, as well as against some fungi, including , , and . In addition, their resistance to oro-gastro-intestinal transit, aggregation capabilities, biofilm production capacity, adhesion to human enterocyte-like cells, and cytotoxicity to colorectal adenocarcinoma cell line were determined.

Clinical findings in individuals with duplication of genes associated with X-linked intellectual disability.

Duplication of all genes associated with X-linked intellectual disability (XLID) have been reported but the majority of the duplications include more than one XLID gene. It is exceptional for whole XLID gene duplications to cause the same phenotype as sequence variants or deletions of the same gene. Duplication of PLP1, the gene associated with Pelizaeus-Merzbacher syndrome, is the most notable duplication of this type.

Neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs) result from highly penetrant variation in hundreds of different genes, some of which have not yet been identified. Using the MatchMaker Exchange, we assembled a cohort of 27 individuals with rare, protein-altering variation in the transcriptional coregulator ZMYM3, located on the X chromosome. Most (n = 24) individuals were males, 17 of which have a maternally inherited variant; six individuals (4 male, 2 female) harbor de novo variants.

Multi-Functional Potential of Lactic Acid Bacteria Strains and Antimicrobial Effects in Minimally Processed Pomegranate ( L. cv Jolly Red) Arils.

This study aimed to evaluate the antimicrobial activity of both cells, and cell-free supernatants (CFS) of 7 selected lactic acid bacteria (LAB) strains belonging to (4 strains), (1 strain), (1 strain), and (1 strain) species, against , Typhimurium, and , by both the agar-well diffusion and co-culture methods. In addition, probiotic and safety traits were also detected. Great variability was detected on antimicrobial effects, whereas all tested strains were found sensitive to most of the tested antibiotics, and without any DNase, gelatinase, or hemolytic activity.

Aims: The objective of this study is to identify and investigate the antifungal and antioxidant potential of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) isolated from traditional fermented products.

Methods And Results: In this work, a collection of LAB was isolated from traditional fermented products collected in four Tunisian regions. After first screening using the overlay method, seven bacterial strains were retained due to their high antifungal effect.

Probiotic Potential and Safety Evaluation of OB14 and OB15, Isolated From Traditional Tunisian Testouri Cheese and Rigouta, Using Physiological and Genomic Analysis.

Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) strains OB14 and OB15 were isolated from traditional Tunisian fermented dairy products, Testouri cheese and Rigouta, respectively. They were identified as by the MALDI TOF-MS (matrix assisted laser desorption-ionization time of flight mass spectrometry) biotyper system and molecular assays (species-specific PCR). These new isolates were evaluated for probiotic properties, compared to Symbioflor 1 clone DSM 16431, as reference.

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a complex systemic autoimmune disease driven by both innate and adaptive immune cells. African Americans tend to present with more severe disease at an earlier age compared with patients of European ancestry. In order to better understand the immunological differences between African American and European American patients, we analyzed the frequencies of B cell subsets and the expression of B cell activation markers from a total of 68 SLE patients and 69 normal healthy volunteers.
