Objective: The aim of the study is to determine the epidemiology, cost, and factors associated with hospital admission, deterioration if hospitalized, and mortality for children with a history of clinically significant cardiovascular disease (CVD) presenting to pediatric emergency departments (EDs).
Study Design: Using the Pediatric Health Information System, we performed a retrospective analysis of ED encounters of children ≤17 years old with clinically significant CVD between 2016 and 2021. Patients were included if they had a cardiovascular complex chronic condition, defined by ICD diagnosis, and procedure codes.
The genus has gained significant attention in the scientific community owing to its diverse bioactivities ascribed to specific bioactive constituents present in different species of this plant. Phytochemicals like flavonoids, terpenoids, and xanthones have been reported to be present in other species responsible for their pharmacological properties. These compounds are well known for their diverse potent therapeutic potentials, such as antimicrobial, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anticancer properties.

This evaluation assessed the effectiveness of this longitudinal quality improvement CHW intervention in reducing asthma morbidity and healthcare utilization. All patients aged 2-18 who met the high-risk clinical criteria in outpatient settings or those who visited the ED due to asthma were offered the program.

This review article provides a comprehensive overview of recent advancements in electron transport materials derived from quinoxaline, along with their applications in various electronic devices. We focus on their utilization in organic solar cells (OSCs), dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs), organic field-effect transistors (OFETs), organic-light emitting diodes (OLEDs) and other organic electronic technologies. Notably, the potential of quinoxaline derivatives as non-fullerene acceptors in OSCs, auxiliary acceptors and bridging materials in DSSCs, and n-type semiconductors in transistor devices is discussed in detail.

Our aim in this study was to carry out ultrasonication, pasteurization and chemical preservation (Potassium metabisulfite) techniques on a carrot-orange juice blend. Additionally, the effect of these treatments on the storage period of about 21 days was also determined.

An open-labeled phase I clinical studies were conducted using iodine complex based research compound called Renessans. Study groups were observed for development of any adverse/serious adverse events and alteration in laboratory values of vital organs, TSH and T4 hormones before and after the administration of the products.

The COVID-19 pandemic not only disrupted the health systems and the economy, but also significantly impacted routine immunization programs.
Aim: To study the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown on the routine immunization coverage program in the province of Laghman, Afghanistan.
The current study was conducted to fabricate Metoclopramide HCL (MCH) and Sumatriptan succinate (SS) instant release buccal films (IRBF) without using any super disintegrant. The solvent casting method was used for the preparation of IRBFs and prepared IRBFs were physicochemically evaluated. Spectrophotometric analysis was done to determine the lambda max followed by the linearity determination of both drugs.

Prediction rules for traumatic brain injury among children with minor head trauma have not been specifically evaluated in infants younger than 3 months old. We aimed to determine the risk of clinically important traumatic brain injuries, traumatic brain injuries on computed tomography (CT) images, and skull fractures in infants younger than 3 months of age who did and did not meet the age-specific Pediatric Emergency Care Applied Research Network (PECARN) low-risk criteria for children with minor blunt head trauma.

Ewing's sarcoma is a rare small round blue cell bone tumor originating from neuroectoderm and undifferentiated neuroepithelial cells, having an annual incidence of approximately one case per million in the United States. In this study, we analyzed the age pattern among patients diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma undergoing management, along with associated features including involved site, regional lymphadenopathy, and distant metastasis at the time of presentation and their correlation with the primary care interval.

This synthesis of green silver nanoparticles (AgNP) was a novel and effectual tool against the Newcastle Viral Disease (NDV). Syzygium aromaticum extract was used as reducing and stabilizing agent for synthesis of silver nanoparticles.

Celiac disease (CD) is an autoimmune disorder with high incidence of multi organ involvement; especially, gastrointestinal manifestations and an increased risk of malignancies. Here we report a case of CD with celiac hepatitis, autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA) and Grave's disease (GD) with their complications. Polyautoimmunity requires comprehensive analysis.

The de novo occurrence of the pure variety in the absence of a prior lesion is the rarest type, and it arises from the metaplasia of the surface epithelium of the ovary. Because of its rarity, a definitive treatment protocol for treatment is not yet available.

In this study, we fabricate biodegradable microcontainers with different polymers, namely poly-ɛ-caprolactone (PCL), poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) 50:50 and PLGA 75:25 by hot punching. The mucoadhesion of the microcontainers is assessed with an retention model on porcine intestinal tissue.

The coexistence of sarcoidosis and breast cancer has been reported, but the coexistence of both diseases in the same patient often leads to misdiagnosis. We report a case of a 36-year-old woman who presented with concerns of a lump in her left breast along with pain and discharge from the nipple.

Micrometer-sized polymeric devices (microcontainers) have the potential to facilitate unidirectional drug release directly into the intestinal mucosa whereby, drug absorption can be enhanced. The aim of this study was to develop an ex vivo model to investigate mucosal adhesion and orientation of microcontainers.

Recently, microcontainers have been introduced as a novel approach to obtain unidirectional release to avoid luminal drug loss, enhance drug permeation, protect drug payload from the harsh environment of the stomach, and explore the ability for targeted drug delivery. However, in order to eventually pave the way for real life applications of these microfabricated drug delivery systems, it is necessary to fabricate them in biodegradable materials approved for similar applications and with strategies that potentially allow for large scale production.

Patients who present with SM-Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) often have the worst outcome. We present a case of an 18-year-old female who was diagnosed with AML (FLT3 (Fms like tyrosine kinase 3) and PML-RARA (promyelocytic leukemia-retinoic acid receptor alpha) translocation-negative) and after initial treatment with a standard induction regimen of cytarabine and daunorubicin (3+7 regimen), her bone marrow showed blast cells less than 5% and dense aggregates/sheets of atypical/immature mast cells with immunohistochemical stain CD117+ve and toluidine blue positive in mast cell aggregates.
