- A study of 9,213 adults from 58 counties revealed an overall LF prevalence of 1.6%, with the Upper Nile state showing the highest rate at 3.4%, and 64% of the surveyed counties being endemic.
- The findings suggest that older adults, especially males, showed higher infection rates, and the study recommends using filarial test strips (FTS) over immunochromatographic tests (ICT) for future assessments to improve detection rates and inform targeted health interventions.
Introduction: South Sudan is affected by a high burden of Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs). The country is very vulnerable to NTDs due to its favourable tropical climate and multiple risk factors.
