The Significance of Diffusion-Weighted Imaging and Apparent Diffusion Coefficient in the Diagnosis of Early Acute Interstitial Edematous Pancreatitis.

The study assessed the diagnostic value of diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) and mean apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) in early acute interstitial edematous pancreatitis (AIEP). Fifty-six AIEP patients and 60 healthy controls underwent an upper abdominal magnetic resonance (MR) examination. The pancreas diameter and ADC values were measured and analyzed across age and gender groups.

Status of Research Funding in Nepal: A Scoping Review.

With the rapid advancement of health delivery, there has been a renewed interest in conducting research among healthcare professionals in Nepal. However, concern is there regarding availability of funds and mechanisms of awarding.  The purpose of this scoping review is to map the available evidence regarding the evolution and current status of health research funding in Nepal and to highlight gaps and areas for future research.

Clinical profile and complications seen in the patients in the later stages of chronic kidney disease presenting to the Emergency Department in a tertiary care center in Nepal: a cross-sectional study.

Introduction: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) has an estimated prevalence of 6% in Nepal, which has resulted in a huge public health and socioeconomic burden for the country. People with different stages of CKD come to the Emergency Department (ED) with various clinical features and complications, which if detected and managed early can result in a decreased need for renal replacement therapy and thus decreased medical cost.

Methods: The authors conducted a cross-sectional analysis taking nonprobability convenience sampling in the ED of a tertiary-level hospital of Nepal, after getting approval from the Institutional Review Committee and obtaining informed consent from the patient.

Mean Intracranial Volume of Brain among Patients with Normal Magnetic Resonance Imaging Referred to the Department of Radiology and Imaging of a Tertiary Care Centre.

Introduction: The measurement of brain volume is an important aspect of the assessment of brain structure and function. However, limited data is available on brain volumetry in the Nepalese population. The study aimed to find the mean intracranial volume of the brain among patients with normal magnetic resonance imaging referred to the Department of Radiology and Imaging of a tertiary care centre.

Delineation of agricultural fields in arid regions from Worldview-2 datasets based on image textural properties.

Barren lands are being transformed into agricultural fields with the growing demand for agriculture-based products. Hence, monitoring these regions for better planning and management is crucial. Surveying with high-resolution RS (remote sensing) satellites like Worldview-2 provides a faster and cheaper solution than conventional surveys.

Benedikt syndrome in a 74-year-old hypertensive woman: A case report.

Benedikt syndrome is a rare neurological disorder of the midbrain. Herein, we present a case of Benedikt syndrome, who presented with left-sided body weakness, right oculomotor nerve palsy, cerebellar ataxia, and Holmes tremor in the left upper limb following midbrain infarction. She was treated with aspirin, clopidogrel, and amiodarone.

Mayer-Rokitansky-Kuster-Hauser Syndrome: A rare case report from Nepal.

Introduction: Mayer-Rokitansky-Kuster-Hauser Syndrome (MRKHS) is a rare congenital disorder with an incidence of 1 in 5000 females. It is characterized by uterovaginal aplasia with normal secondary sexual characteristics and genetic karyotype 46XX. The exact etiology of MRKH syndrome is not known.

Diffuse midline glioma H3K27M mutation in adult: A case report.

Introduction: Diffuse midline glioma with H3 K27M mutation is a new tumor entity from 2016 which is highly aggressive and classified as a WHO Grade IV tumor regardless of histopathologic features. DMG is an aggressive tumor with a poor prognosis, predominating in children and rarely in adults. The clinicopathologic features in adults remain poorly characterized.
