Diabetes is one of the most common disorders that substantially contributes to an increase in global health burden. As a metabolic disorder, diabetes is associated with various medical conditions and diseases such as obesity, hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, and atherosclerosis. An Zebrafish Model for Interrogating ROS-Mediated Pancreatic -Cell Injury, Response, and Prevention.

It is well known that a chronic state of elevated reactive oxygen species (ROS) in pancreatic -cells impairs their ability to release insulin in response to elevated plasma glucose. Moreover, at its extreme, unmitigated ROS drives regulated cell death.
