: This analysis aims to evaluate gender-specific differences in nutritional status, body weight changes, and their impact on overall survival (OS) in head and neck cancer (HNC) patients undergoing (chemo)radiotherapy (CRT). : Between 2018 and 2020, 61 HNC (17 female and 44 male) patients were prospectively recruited to receive curative (chemo)radiotherapy. Nutritional assessments included dietary questionnaire screenings and records, anthropometric methods (body mass index, BMI, body composition via bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA)), and the determination of biomarkers like albumin and CRP.

As federal strategic plans prioritize increasing diversity within the biomedical workforce, and STEM training and outreach programs seek to recruit and retain students from historically underrepresented populations, there is a need for interrogation of traditional demographic descriptors and careful consideration of best practices for obtaining demographic data. To accelerate this work, equity-focused researchers and leaders from STEM programs convened to examine approaches for measuring demographic variables. Incarceration of a gravid uterus with massive placental enlargement and fetal triploidy at 19 weeks of gestation - A case report on the simultaneous presence of two rare conditions.

This article reports a rare case of uterine incarceration in pregnancy concurrent with nonmolar fetal triploidy and massive placental enlargement in a 35-year-old primigravida. The patient presented with abdominal discomfort and peripheral edema at 19 weeks of gestation. Diagnostic assessments revealed a retroflexed uterus with a massively enlarged placenta and a severely growth-restricted fetus.

Methods: We used a rat model of relapse (cue-induced reinstatement) and exercise (wheel running, 2 hours/day) coupled with RNA sequencing to establish transcriptional profiles associated with the protective effects of exercise (during early withdrawal [days 1-7] or throughout withdrawal [days 1-14]) versus noneffective exercise (during late withdrawal [days 8-14]) against cocaine-seeking and sedentary conditions.

Results: As expected, cue-induced cocaine seeking was highest in the sedentary and late-withdrawal exercise groups; both groups also showed upregulation of a -associated transcript and enrichment of Drd1-Nmdar1 complex and glutamate receptor complex terms.

Background: Surgical aortic valve replacement (SAVR) has been the standard treatment for symptomatic severe aortic stenosis, which is common among patients receiving long-term dialysis. The aim of this study was to report the long-term outcomes of SAVR in patients receiving chronic dialysis and to identify independent risk factors for early and late mortality.

Methods: Every consecutive patient with SAVR with or without concomitant cardiac procedures in British Columbia between January 2000 and December 2015 was identified from the provincial cardiac registry.
