Analysis of gene expression is a pivotal method at the core of biomarkers studies and cancer research. Currently, RT-qPCR is the most commonly used technique to investigate the expression of certain genes. The accurate and reliable result relies on an effective normalization step using suitable reference genes.

The 2022 WHO classification has organized the thyroid follicular cell-derived neoplasms into benign, low-risk and high-risk neoplasms, and emphasized the value of biomarkers that may provide differential diagnostic and prognostic information to avoid overtreatment of low risk neoplasms. This work aims to study the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) expression, functional and spatial dynamics in relation to specific miRNAs alterations in papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) and in non-invasive follicular thyroid neoplasm with papillary-like nuclear features (NIFTP) considered as models of high-risk and low-risk thyroid tumors respectively.

Deciphering the pathophysiological mechanisms that contribute to PTC development is essential to the discovery of optimal diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. MiR-146b-5p has been identified as a cancer-associated microRNA highly up-regulated in PTC.

Papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) is usually accompanied by intra-tumoral lymphocytic infiltration. The mechanisms regulating this tumor associated immune response or its evasion are not well understood.

Methods: Clinical isolates from the Study for Monitoring Antimicrobial Resistance Trends associated with urinary tract and intra-abdominal infections between 2011 and 2015 were identified in Lebanon and Jordan. Susceptibility testing and molecular characterization were performed as per standard methods.
Background: Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) variants have several overlapping clinical and pathological features. The World Health Organization recently published a new classification of thyroid tumors containing significant revisions. Encapsulated papillary thyroid carcinoma (EPTC) has been recognized as a distinctive variant of PTC.

Estrogens, via ERs, affect placental growth and fetal development, a process that may involve MTA1 signaling. Expression of MTA1, MTA1s, ERα, and ERβ genes and proteins in rat placentas was studied on 16, 19, and 21 days of gestation (dg).

Materials And Methods: Thirty patients met the inclusion criteria, which included (1) osteosarcoma or Ewing's sarcoma, (2) MR studies no more than 2 months prior to surgery, (3) presence of abnormal MR signal surrounding the tumor bulk, (4) pathological material from resected tumor. The patients received standard neoadjuvant chemotherapy.
Objective: To study the effect of obesity on the quality of life (QoL), functional capacity and the risk of carotid atherosclerotic plaque formation in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) patients and to correlate the findings with disease parameters, activity and damage.
Patients And Methods: Sixty SLE patients were clinically examined, investigated and their carotid intima media thickness (IMT) measured by ultrasonography. Assessment of the QoL, Health Assessment Questionnaire(HAQ-II), fatigue severity scale (FSS), the disease activity using Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Disease Activity Index (SLEDAI) and the damage by Systemic Lupus International Collaboration Clinics (SLICC)/American College of Rheumatology (ACR) damage index were performed on all patients.
Purpose: The aim of the study was to determine the accuracy and observer agreement in the assessment of internal knee derangement using sagittal fat-suppressed proton-density fast-spin-echo (FS PD-FSE) compared with combined sagittal T1-weighted spin-echo, dual-proton-density, and T2-weighted spin-echo sequences and with arthroscopy.
Methods: One hundred eighteen patients undergoing routine knee magnetic resonance (MR) imaging had additional imaging with sagittal FS PD-FSE sequences. Menisci, cruciate ligaments, extensor tendons (ETs), bone marrow, osteoarthritic changes, soft tissue edema, joint effusion, and incidental tumors were analyzed.
