This study aims to address the following research query: In the event of an imminent disaster poised to impact distribution grids, what constitutes the optimal course of action for the distribution system operators to keep the lights on? To address this challenge, we propose a cost-efficient cellular model for enhancing the resilience of smart distribution grids. This model prioritizes resilience in the face of natural disasters or other disruptions that could impact service delivery. This method benefits both grid operators and consumers by ensuring reliable power supply while minimizing energy costs.

Purpose: Percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) has undergone extensive modification to reduce complications. One of the recent advances in minimally invasive procedures is the advent of ultra-mini PCNL (UM-PCNL), which provides miniaturized access to the kidney. However, the specific instruments applied in UM-PCNL may not be found in centers with limited resources.

Background: Pancreas transplantation is the most effective treatment to improve quality of life and overcome complications in patients with end-stage renal disease and diabetes mellitus. One of the main approaches for concurrent renal disease and diabetes mellitus which has been underutilized during the past decade is a pancreas transplant after kidney transplantation. Our study aimed to quantify outcomes following pancreas after kidney transplants (PAKs) in the United States from 2001 to 2020 with an emphasis on graft and patient survival.

The effect of low artificial Ultraviolet (UV) on the DNA methylation remains controversial. This study addresses how differential photoperiods of UV radiation affect the biochemical and molecular behaviors of Cannabis indica cell suspension cultures. The cell suspensions were illuminated with the compact fluorescent lamps (CFL), emitting a combination of 10% UVB, 30% UVA, and the rest visible wavelengths for 0, 4, 8, and 16 h.

Targeted drug delivery is one of the attractive ways in which cancer treatment can significantly reduce side effects. In the last two decades, the use of antibodies as a tool for accurate detection of cancer has been noted. On the other hand, the binding of drugs and carriers containing drugs to the specific antibodies of cancer cells can specifically target only these cells.

Purpose: Anti SARS-CoV-2 vaccination initially showed high effectiveness in preventing COVID-19. However, after the surge of variants of concern, the effectiveness dropped. Several studies investigated if this was related to the decrease of the humoral response over time; however, this issue is still unclear.

Introduction: We evaluate which screening and diagnostic approach resulted in the greatest reduction in adverse pregnancy outcomes due to increased treatment.

Research Design And Methods: This study presents a secondary analysis of a randomized community non-inferiority trial conducted among pregnant women participating in the GULF Study in Iran. A total of 35 430 pregnant women were randomly assigned to one of the five prespecified gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) screening protocols.

Thermography, as a harmless modality, thanks to its low equipment complexity in parallel with quick and cheap access, has been able to come up as a method with significant potential in the diagnosis of some cancers in recent years. However, the complexity of the images resulting from this method has caused the use of deep learning to interpret thermograms. A limiting factor in this process is the strong dependence of deep learning methods on the number of training data, which is a serious challenge in thermography due to the young age of this technology and the lack of available images.

Objective: The effect of zeolite on Ca plasma concentration, reproductive parameters, body condition score (BCS), and colostrum properties was evaluated in Holstein dairy cows during the postpartum period.

Materials And Methods: Sixty pregnant cows were allocated to three experimental groups, including 1) a control (CON) diet; 2) a CON diet + 0.75% dry matter (DM) zeolite (100 gm/day/cow); and 3) a CON diet + 1.

Background: The effectiveness of the immunity provided by SARS-CoV-2 vaccines is an important public health issue. We analyzed the determinants of 12-month serology in a multicenter European cohort of vaccinated healthcare workers (HCW).

Methods: We analyzed the sociodemographic characteristics and levels of anti-SARS-CoV-2 spike antibodies (IgG) in a cohort of 16,101 vaccinated HCW from eleven centers in Germany, Italy, Romania, Slovakia and Spain.

Introduction And Importance: SARS-CoV-2 infection, besides respiratory symptoms, as cardinal manifestation, may present with neurological involvement. Immune-mediated polyradiculoneuropathy is one of the important neurological complications manifested by COVID-19 mainly includes Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS), treatment-related fluctuation of GBS, and chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy (CIDP). Also, there are several reports of COVID-19 vaccine-related GBS and CIDP.

Understanding antibody persistence concerning multimorbidity is crucial for vaccination policies. Our goal is to assess the link between multimorbidity and serological response to SARS-CoV-2 nine months post-first vaccine. We analyzed Healthcare Workers (HCWs) from three cohorts from Italy, and one each from Germany, Romania, Slovakia, and Spain.

The polarimetry imaging technique as a promising technique for pathological diagnosis provides a handy tool for identifying and discriminating cancerous tissues. In this paper, the optical polarization properties of bulk bladder tissues without any further processing and Formalin-Fixed Paraffin-Embedded (FFPE) blocks of bladder tissues have been measured. The images of the Muller matrix for both normal and cancerous samples have been obtained and for quantitative analysis and to provide a more precise comparison, two methods have been applied; the Mueller matrix polar decomposition (MMPD), and the Mueller matrix transformation (MMT).

Background: Health care workers (HCWs) were on the frontline of the current pandemic. We aimed at identifying determinants of SARS-CoV-2 infection and the effectiveness of personal protection equipment (PPE) worn by HCWs before vaccination.

Methods: We abstracted data on SARS-CoV-2 infection based on positive PCR results and sociodemographic characteristics of 38,793 HCWs from public hospitals and public health authorities from 10 European centers.

Given their occupational risk profile, HCWs were the first to receive anti-SARS-CoV-2 vaccination. However, breakthrough infections remained common, mainly sustained by new SARS-CoV-2 variants of concern (VOCs) that rapidly spread one after another in Italy. Evidence suggests that the measured level of anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibodies does not clearly predict the level of protection conferred by either natural infection or vaccine-induced immunization, highlighting the need for further study on the diversity in susceptibility to SARS-CoV-2 infection.

Objectives: There is considerable worldwide controversy regarding optimal screening and diagnostic approaches for GDM. This study aimed to compare the prevalence, maternal and neonatal outcomes of a One-step with a Two-step approach for the screening and diagnosis of GDM in a large community sample of pregnant women.

Methods: We conducted a secondary analysis of a randomized community non-inferiority trial of GDM screening in Iran.

Candidiasis occurs mainly in immunocompromised patients. Rapid detection of Candida species can play a major role in the successful management of fungal infections and treatment monitoring. Detection and discrimination of five common strains of Candida species was performed using the optical elastic scattering diffraction pattern of their colonies.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common gynecological endocrine disorder. Pomegranate juice (PJ) has been known to play anti-inflammatory and antioxidant roles. However, the effects of PJ on inflammation, oxidative stress, and sex hormones in PCOS patients are very little studied, and thus more studies are needed.

We quantitatively study cavitation damage non-invasively, in-place and time-resolved at microsecond resolution. A single, laser-induced bubble is generated in an aqueous NaCl solution close to the surface of an aluminum sample. High-speed chronoamperometry is used to record the corrosion current flowing between the sample and an identical aluminum electrode immersed in the same solution.
