Objective: To compare three groups of patients who underwent uncomplicated ureteroscopic lithotripsy (URSL) and to evaluate whether stenting could be eliminated after the procedure, as there is no consensus about whether a ureteric stent should be placed after uncomplicated ureteroscopy for stone retrieval.

Patients And Methods: In this randomised clinical trial (NCT04145063) 105 patients underwent uncomplicated URSL for ureteric stones. They were prospectively randomised into three groups: Group 1 (34 patients) with a double pigtail ureteric stent, Group 2 (35 patients) with a double pigtail ureteric stent with extraction string, and Group 3 (36 patients) with no ureteric stent placed after the procedure.

Background: The pathophysiology of coronary artery ectasia (CAE) is under investigated and not well understood. Atherosclerosis is considered as the main etiologic factor for CAE in adults where more than 50% of CAE patients have atherosclerosis. Recently, lipoprotein (a) (Lp(a)) has emerged as a powerful risk factor for atherosclerosis and coronary artery disease (CAD).

Objective: To compare the sensitivity and positive predictive value (PPV) of pinhole dual-phase Tc-99m sestamibi vs combined Tc-99m sestamibi and Tc-99m pertechnetate scintigraphy in patients with hyperparathyroidism where single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT)/CT is unavailable.

Methods: All patients with biochemically proven hyperparathyroidism who underwent both pinhole Tc-99m sestamibi and Tc-99m pertechnetate scintigraphy between January 2012 and December 2017 with surgery performed within 3 months of imaging were analyzed. Tc-99m sestamibi images alone and combined with Tc-99m pertechnetate images were interpreted by two nuclear medicine physicians.

Background: Molecular subtypes of breast cancer have been proposed since 2012. The correlation between various baseline [18F]fluorodeoxyglucose ([18F]FDG) uptake parameters, including total lesion glycolysis (TLG), and molecular subtypes of primary breast cancer lesions in patients with invasive ductal cancer will be investigated.

Methods: Staging [18F]FDG PET/CT for breast invasive ductal carcinoma were retrospectively evaluated.

Objectives: The aim of the study was to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of various single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) quantitative methods in patients with condylar hyperplasia (CH) and to investigate whether normal condylar activity changes with age.

Patients And Methods: We analyzed the SPECT images of 33 patients with CH and those of 16 control individuals. Regions of interest (ROIs) were drawn on whole condyle, or fixed-size ROIs were drawn on both condyles and the clivus on the slice with higher activity [a two-dimensional (2D) approach] and on the summation of five adjacent transaxial slices [a three-dimensional (3D) approach].

The objective of this study was to assess the relative association between body weight, body mass index (BMI), lean mass (LM) and fat mass (FM), and bone mineral density (BMD) in a group of Jordanian postmenopausal women and investigate if this possible association changes with age. A total of 3256 patients had dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) scan in the period from January 2009 till January 2012 at the Radiology and Nuclear Medicine Department of Jordan University Hospital. Only 584 women met the selection criteria.

Background: Complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) is characterized by pain in combination with sensory, vasomotor, sudomotor, trophic and motor abnormalities. The diagnosis of CRPS is based primarily on clinical criteria and the presence of distinct signs and symptoms. The role of bone scintigraphy in the diagnosis of these patients has been limited by its variable sensitivity.

Both clinical and subclinical thyrotoxicosis can result from a wide range of disorders. Establishing the correct etiology underlying thyrotoxicosis is essential to direct treatment towards its specific pathophysiologic process. Based on clinical experience and guideline recommendations, radioiodine iodine uptake (RAIU) measurement and scintigraphy are often requested as the first-line investigation in thyrotoxic patients; however, their specific individual contribution to the differential diagnosis of thyrotoxicosis has not been previously investigated.

This review outlines the technical aspects and diagnostic performance parameters of nuclear medicine procedures used on patients with disorders of the lower gastrointestinal tract, with the exclusion of techniques using tumor-seeking radiopharmaceuticals. Chronic disorders of the lower gastrointestinal tract often reduce the quality of life because of discomfort from constipation or diarrhea. Five classes of radionuclide procedures are used to characterize these disorders: transit scintigraphy, searches for ectopic gastric mucosa in Meckel's diverticulum, scintigraphy of active inflammatory bowel disease, scintigraphic defecography, and scintigraphy to detect sites of gastrointestinal bleeding.

Despite vast worldwide experience in the use of 131I for treating Graves' disease (GD), no consensus of opinion exists concerning the optimal method of dose calculation. In one of the most popular equations, the administered (131)I dose is directly proportional to the estimated thyroid gland volume and inversely proportional to the measured 24-hour radioiodine uptake. In this study, we compared the efficiency of different tissue-absorbed doses to induce euthyroidism or hypothyroidism within 1 year after radioiodine therapy in GD patients.

Disorders of the upper digestive tract have a high impact on modern society, in terms of both direct and indirect health care costs and of social burden. The most common presenting symptom is either dysphagia or dyspepsia. Discriminating specific diagnoses within this wide group of diseases requires sound clinical judgment and application of procedures to distinguish organic from nonorganic disease and to further characterize the functional or motility disturbance of nonorganic diseases.
