Aim: To evaluate whether establishing an extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) specialist team, termed the Yokohama Advanced Cardiopulmonary Help Team (YACHT), affected the outcomes and centralization of patients requiring ECMO in Yokohama-Yokosuka regions.
Methods: This retrospective observational study included patients aged ≥18 years and treated with venovenous-ECMO for severe acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) from 2014 to 2023. The primary outcome was intensive care unit (ICU) mortality.
Objective: Blunt cardiac rupture is a life-threatening injury that requires surgical repair by cardiovascular or trauma surgeons. We report a case of blunt cardiac rupture in a rural area in which emergency physicians performed emergency department thoracotomy and surgical repair to save the patient's life.
Patient And Methods: This case involved an 18-year-old female who was injured in a traffic accident and underwent emergency thoracotomy and surgical repair.
Sheep are typically considered as industrial animals that provide wool and meals. However, they play a significant role in medical research in addition to their conventional use. Notably, sheep fetuses are resistant to surgical invasions and can endure numerous manipulations, such as needle puncture and cell transplantation, and surgical operations requiring exposure beyond the uterus.

Thus, the purpose of this study was to establish a new method for quantifying neuromuscular control by focusing on the variability of multi-joint movement under conditions with different visual information and to determine the cutoff for potential biomarkers of injury risk in ACL deficient individuals.
Methods: Twenty-three ACL deficient patients and 23 healthy subjects participated in this study.
Introduction: Smoking cessation is the best strategy for reducing tobacco-related morbimortality. The goal of this randomized controlled trial was to test whether using the genetically favorable markers to choose a smoking cessation drug treatment (precision medicine) was superior to using the most effective drug (varenicline) in terms of abstinence rates. Additionally, combination therapy was tested when monotherapy failed.

We report a case in which a scoring balloon was used in lesions resistant to angioplasty with a semi-compliant balloon.
Case Description: A 72-year-old man presented with severe stenosis and a highly calcified lesion in the right cervical internal carotid artery.
Case Presentation: A 61-year-old female was referred to our hospital with a neoplastic lesion in the duodenum. Computed tomography with contrast enhancement revealed a 10-mm tumor in the duodenum. Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy revealed a submucosal tumor-like lesion in the descending part of the duodenum.

These interactions occur across the entire vertical gradient of the forest. This study compares how caterpillar communities, and their parasitism rates, vary across vertical strata and between caterpillar defensive strategies in a semi deciduous tropical forest in Nditam, Cameroon.

We investigated the optimal administration theory for the pairing of BMP-2 and abaloparatide in a rat spinal fusion model.

This study explores the precision of QPC detection using numerical estimates derived from cross-bicoherence and bivariate Granger causality within a straightforward, yet noisy, instantaneous multiplier model. It further assesses the impact of accidental statistically significant bifrequency interactions, introducing new metrics such as the ratio of bispectral quadratic phase coupling and the ratio of bivariate Granger causality quadratic phase coupling.

For older people, the required medical interventions and hospitalization following minor head injury have negative impacts, which have not been reported in literature up till now. We aimed to investigate the risk factors for clinically important traumatic brain injury (ciTBI) in older patients with minor head injury.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAlopecia associated with lupus erythematosus is broadly classified into reversible nonscarring alopecia seen in the acute phase, such as worsening of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and cicatricial alopecia seen in chronic cutaneous lupus erythematosus represented by discoid lupus erythematosus (DLE). In DLE-induced alopecia, early therapeutic intervention before developing scarring alopecia is important, but the condition is often resistant to conventional treatment. Anifrolumab (ANI), a novel therapeutic agent for SLE that inhibits Type I interferon activity, has been shown to be effective against acute skin lesions, including alopecia, in patients with SLE.

Limited data is available on the nationwide implantation trends in Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy Defibrillator (CRT-D) devices before and during the pandemic. We aimed to explore the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on CRT-D insertion rates and adverse outcomes related to delays in care.

Methods: Eighty male graduates who were Kendo club members during their university days performed anthropometric and HGS measurements, and these HGS were compared with those measured during their university days (mean age of 19.5 years old).
This study investigates the neutralizing activity against the XBB1.5 variant and the ancestral strain in a population post-bivalent vaccination using a pseudo virus assay validated with authentic virus assay. While bivalent booster vaccination and past infections enhanced neutralization against the XBB 1.

These advances include various adjunctive techniques, increased indications for endovascular treatment, and improved treatment results. Furthermore, the number of cerebral aneurysm treatments using flow diverters (FDs) is expected to increase.

This study compared the effects of prolonged sitting with those of prolonged supination on blood pressure in healthy young men. Methods This randomized crossover study included 16 healthy young men (mean age: 21.

PASC accounts for 1-4% of all pancreatic cancers, and even after curative surgery, its prognosis is poorer than that of ordinary pancreatic adenocarcinoma. Pathologically, it shows glandular and squamous differentiation of cells.

Particularly, for anticancer drugs, it is an excellent method of administration that reduces the risk of exposure during dispensing. In contrast, information on SSM for individual drugs is insufficient.
