Background: While magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) remains the gold standard for morphological imaging, its ability to differentiate between tumor tissue and treatment-induced changes on the cellular level is insufficient. Notably, glioma cells, particularly glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), demonstrate overexpression of chemokine receptor-4 (CXCR4). This study aims to evaluate the feasibility of non-invasive Ga-Cixafor™ PET/CT as a tool to improve diagnostic accuracy in patients with high-grade glioma.

In the era of molecular imaging and eager to study tumor tissues' microenvironment with noninvasive means, the search and development of new radiotracer targeted molecule continue. αvβ6-Integrin is a heterodimeric glycoprotein transmembrane receptor that is unique in that it is expressed exclusively in epithelial cells. It is upregulated in varieties of carcinomas such of the lung, breast, and colon.

Article Synopsis
  • A study compared different types of PET scans, focusing on a new scan called Ga-FAPI-46 to see how well it detects cancer compared to a regular scan called F-FDG.
  • Eleven patients with various cancers, like colon and breast cancer, were examined using different types of PET scans.
  • The results showed that Ga-FAPI-46 was better at finding cancer spread in areas like lymph nodes and bones compared to F-FDG.

18F-PSMA PET/CT is an emerging standard of care in staging prostate cancer, evaluating biochemical recurrence and response to therapy. Despite the nomenclature, PSMA expression is also documented at the tumor-associated neovasculature of other malignant solid tumors including renal cell carcinoma. We report a case of 44-year-old man known to have renal cell carcinoma who underwent 18F-PSMA and 18F-FDG PET/CT for restaging after radical nephrectomy.

18F-DOPA is a promising radiotracer used for both staging and restaging of primary brain tumors based on increased transport via the L-type large neutral amino acid transport system in tumor cells. Adult medulloblastoma is extremely rare. We present a case of 25-year-old man with posterior fossa medulloblastoma treated with surgery followed by chemotherapy and radiotherapy 5 years back, which later developed metastasis to left cerebral lobe treated with gamma knife followed by surgical debulking.

18F-PSMA is a promising tracer for both staging and detection of biochemical recurrence in prostate cancer. PSMA is also expressed in the benign pathological conditions. We report a case of 81-year-old man with a known case of prostate cancer who underwent 18F-PSMA for restaging.

18F-PSMA is a promising tracer for both staging and detection of biochemical recurrence in prostate cancer. PSMA is also expressed in the endothelium of tumor-associated neovasculature of various solid malignancies possibly due to tumor-associated angiogenic factors and endothelial cell sprouting. We report a case of a 59-year-old man with known case of prostate cancer underwent 18F-PSMA for restaging.

Fluorine-18-sodium fluoride (F-NaF) is a positron emission tomography (PET) bone imaging agent mainly used for oncology staging but may also be used in the evaluation of benign bone and joint pathology conditions. Fluorine-18-NaF is an excellent bone-seeking agent with high bone uptake owing to favorable biodistribution with rapid single-pass extraction, limited plasma protein binding and prompt renal clearance. Fluorine-18-NaF PET/computed tomography (CT) is highly sensitive in identifying both sclerotic and lytic bone metastatic lesions.

Ga-PSMA is a promising tracer for both primary staging and detection of biochemical recurrence in prostate cancer. PSMA is also expressed in the neovascular endothelium of various solid malignancies possibly due to tumor-associated angiogenic factors and endothelial cell sprouting. We report a case of a 73-year-old man of prostate cancer with rising prostate-specific antigen levels.

Ga-PSMA is a promising tracer for both staging and detection of biochemical recurrence in prostate cancer. Prostate-specific membrane antigen is also expressed in the endothelium of neovasculature of various solid malignancies possibly due to tumor-associated angiogenic factors and endothelial cell sprouting. We report a case of 75-year-old man with metastatic cholangiocarcinoma to liver and lymph nodes progressing on chemotherapy.

Purpose: The role of F-fluoride (F-NaF) PET-CT for the detection of bone metastases in adults is well established and is considered superior to conventional bone scintigraphy. However, data pertaining use of F-NaF PET-CT in pediatric oncology is relatively sparse. The aim of the present study is to retrospectively analyze and share a single-center experience of F-NaF PET-CT in pediatric population and to provide preliminary information regarding imaging technique, feasibility of this modality in young patients and radiation dosimetry measurements in pediatric oncology cases.

Objective: Os acromiale (OA) is a failure of complete fusion of the acromial process. It is usually asymptomatic and discovered incidentally. OA can contribute to shoulder impingement symptoms and rotator cuff tears.

Purpose: The quality of conventional bone scintigraphy can be poor in patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD). Fluorine-18-sodium fluoride (F-NaF) PET-computed tomography (CT) has rapid single-pass extraction, fast clearance from the soft tissues and a better target to background ratio. The aim of the present study is to preliminarily assess the superior tracer kinetics of F-NaF in ESRD patients.

Purpose: Optimizing diagnostic imaging may be challenging in obese patients. The quality of conventional bone scintigraphy can be poor in the morbidly obese due to a combination of factors including high background soft tissue activity. In comparison, sodium fluoride (F-NaF PET-CT) has a better target-to-background ratio attributed to rapid single-pass extraction and fast clearance from the soft tissues.

Several different techniques, radiopharmaceuticals, and imaging modalities are commonly used in nuclear medicine for studies of endocrine organs. Nuclear medicine is used in the management of benign and malignant thyroid, parathyroid, and neuroendocrine disorders. Thus, it is essential to acknowledge pitfalls and the limitations of nuclear medicine imaging for accurate diagnosis and patient management.

Unlabelled: Radioembolization with 90Y microspheres represents a novel transarterial radiation treatment for liver tumors. The purpose of this pilot study was to evaluate the findings of postimplantation PET/CT of 90Y glass microspheres.

Methods: Three patients with hepatocellular carcinoma and 2 patients with liver metastases (1 neuroendocrine, 1 colorectal) underwent PET/CT after radioembolization.

Introduction: Post-poliomyelitis syndrome causes variable musculoskeletal manifestations including pain, muscle weakness and fatigue. These manifestations are commonly secondary to overuse and misuse of muscles and joints and could follow a fall. Bone scan can be useful in determining the underlying cause and follow-up.
