Background: Music listening interventions have been used to manage preoperative anxiety and postoperative pain in women undergoing breast cancer (BC) using face-to-face mode and music that was relevant to the patients' culture; however, the interventions were not underpinned by any theories.

Objective: To assess the feasibility and preliminary effects of a theory-driven multicomponent music intervention on preoperative and postoperative patient outcomes in African women with BC undergoing mastectomy.

Methods: This study was a multicenter, single-blind randomized controlled trial with qualitative interview.

An Assessment of the Correlation between Tests of Clinical Competence and Tests of Cognitive Knowledge amongst Nigerian Resident Doctors in Surgery.

Background: Assessment of clinical competence involves the assessment of cognition and assessment of clinical performance (behaviour in practice). The limitations of the traditional long case examination (LCE) in the assessment of clinical performance led to its replacement with the objective structured clinical examination (OSCE) by many institutions.

Aims: To determine and compare the abilities of the OSCE and LCE to predict candidates' performance in the tests of cognitive knowledge in the fellowship examination of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria in the Faculty of Surgery.

Histopathological report of colorectal carcinoma resections: A 5-year audit in Lagos.

Background: Complete and accurate pathology reporting of colorectal carcinoma (CRC) resection specimen is critical to clinical management of individual patients. The study aims to audit colorectal cancer histopathology reporting in Lagos between 2011 and 2015 before the adoption of the Society for Gastroenterology and Hepatology in Nigeria pro forma in 2016.

Materials And Methods: All resected CRC cases were identified from the Histopathology record of our Department and that of a private Laboratory in Lagos over a 5-year from 2011 to 2015.

Introduction: Hepatitis B Virus, a highly infectious blood-borne virus poses a major threat to public health globally due to its high prevalence rate and grave consequence in causing liver cirrhosis and hepatocelullar carcinoma, the third cause of cancer death worldwide. The aim is determine the prevalence of HBsAg, knowledge, and vaccination practices against viral hepatitis B infection among doctors and nurses in a health care facility.

Methods: Study design was a descriptive cross-sectional study among all the doctors and nurses in the health care facility.

Differential diagnosis and management of giant fibroadenoma: comparing excision with reduction mammoplasty incision and excision with inframammary incision.

Giant fibroadenoma (GFA) may present with breast asymmetry and can be excised with an inframammary incision (IFI) or reduction mammoplasty incision (RMI). This study investigated the clinical presentation and compared excision with the IFI and RMI. All patients with benign breast tumours greater than 5 cm underwent core needle biopsy and a histopathological diagnosis.
