Capillaroscopic appearance of nailfold vasculature of diabetic nephropathy patients.

Objective: Diabetic nephropathy is a microvascular complication of diabetes and the most common cause of end-stage renal failure throughout the world. Videocapillaroscopy is a simple and noninvasive method that can display capillaries in the nail bed at the micron level. A few studies have been conducted on detecting retinopathy, another important diabetic microvascular complication, with videocapillaroscopy; however, no comprehensive study has been performed on diabetic nephropathy.

Visceral fat index: a novel predictor for coronary collateral circulation.

Objective This study was designed to investigate the role of visceral adiposity along with other clinical parameters in predicting poor coronary collateral circulation (CCC) among patients with severe obstructive coronary artery disease (CAD). Subjects and methods A total of 135 patients with severe obstructive CAD and good (n = 70) or poor (n = 65) CCC were included. Data on angiographically detected CCC, the quality criteria for CCC (Rentrop scores) and visceral fat index (VFI) obtained via bioelectrical impedance were compared between good and poor CCC groups.

A Case of Brucellosis with a Rare Complication: Pericarditis.

Objectives: To describe brucellosis and its possible complications according to clinical, laboratory and radiological findings.

Methods: We describe a case of pericarditis visualized at transthoracic echocardiography with clinical manifestations.

Results: Clinical manifestations, imaging and laboratory findings provided the correct diagnosis of pericarditis.
