Background: The objective of this study was to evaluate the outcome of THA done in patients with sickle cell disease at a single center, and compare with rest of the world before we could recommend routine THA in SCD patients.
Methods: In 92 patients, 117 THAs were performed in sickle cell patients. Seventy-six (76) patients had homozygous hemoglobin (Hgb SS) disease, whereas sixteen had sickle cell trait (Hgb AS).
Objective: To assess the correlation of serum parathyroid hormone (PTH) and vitamin D (25-OHD) levels based on different assays for measuring 25-OHD in healthy Saudi Arabians living along the east coast.
Patients And Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in 200 patients (150 women and 50 men aged between 18-69 years) between January 2011 and December 2012, attending outpatient clinic at King Fahd Hospital of the University, Al Khobar. The first 200 patients seen without vitamin D supplementation at clinic were enrolled in the study.
A case of steroid-induced osteoporosis-related multiple fractures and dislocations are described after a seizure is reported. Patient had two years history of steroid use with no supplement or antiresorptive therapy. There was a delay in the diagnosis which affected an otherwise good outcome in such situations.

Methods: One hundred and fifty patients who underwent arthroscopic washout for early OAK between January 2001 and December 2006, at the King Fahd University Hospital, Al-Khobar, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia were analyzed. Preoperative assessment of patients included clinical assessment by modified Lequesne grading (MLG), antero-posterior and lateral radiographs of weight bearing of knee joints and the skyline view of the patella, and was graded by Kellegren and Lawrence grading (KLG).
