Segmental colonic volvulus involving the sigmoid or ileocaecal region is an important cause of large bowel obstruction and a well-established surgical emergency. Volvulus of the entire colon however is hazardously rare, in which case the diagnosis is likely to be made intraoperatively. The surgeon is then faced with the conundrum of the best surgical management, especially in the case of early intervention with viable bowel.

However, very little is known about the trends of antimicrobial use (AMU) in dairy animals in LMICs. The objective of this study was to quantify AMU in two large commercial dairy farms in Pakistan.

Since the end of 2019, the emergence of novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has accelerated the research on host immune responses toward the coronaviruses. When there is no approved drug or vaccine to use against these culprits, host immunity is the major strategy to fight such infections. Type I interferons are an integral part of the host innate immune system and define one of the first lines of innate immune defense against viral infections.

Chicken type I IFNs are divided into three subtypes namely, chIFN-α, chIFN-β, and chIFN-κ. Viral pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) recognized by their corresponding specific PRRs (pattern recognition receptors) induce the expression of chicken type I IFNs.

Few studies have investigated employee perceptions of artificial intelligence implementation in Saudi Arabia and the Arabian world. In addition, limited studies investigated the effect of employee knowledge and job title on the perception of artificial intelligence implementation in the workplace.

Since the initiation of three-dimensional (3D) systems, studies have failed to prove significant advantages over traditional two-dimensional systems which could be attributed to suboptimal image quality, poor illumination and high cost of earlier systems. Recent advances in stereoscopy have led to the introduction of high-definition (HD) systems with improvement in image quality in both two-dimensional and 3D systems.

We present a case of a 91 year old female presenting with acute small bowel evisceration with majority of her small bowel visible outside the vagina. The bowel wall was edematous requiring emergent laparotomy and reduction of bowel with repair of the vaginal vault.

The coordination of services, national funding and future research rely on the integrity of the IHFD so as to avoid policy and budget planning being based on misrepresentative data. An audit was performed to assess the accuracy of the 2016 IHFD data collected in our trauma unit.
