Background Humeral shaft fractures are common orthopedic injuries, and their treatment options vary based on fracture characteristics. One surgical method involves closed reduction and internal fixation (CRIF) with multiple intramedullary (IM) Kirschner wires (K-wires), which remains less explored, especially in adults. This study aims to investigate the outcomes of the treatment of humeral shaft fractures by closed reduction and internal fixation with multiple flexible intramedullary K-wires.

Hemangioma of the Lumbar Spine Involving the Spinous Process: A Rare Case Report and Review of the Literature.

Hemangiomas of the spine are usually benign and asymptomatic. They can cause devastating complications such as pathological fractures of the spine and neurological disability. This report documents an atypical location of a hemangioma in a lumbar spinous process, in combination with a spondylolisthesis at the same level, which makes it even more uncommon.

Diagnosis of Acute Heart Failure Using Inferior Vena Cava Ultrasound: Systematic Review and Meta-analysis.

Does fasting in Ramadan increase the risk of developing urinary stones?

Objectives: To explore the frequency of renal colic (RC) secondary to urinary stones in Ramadan compared to other months and seasons of the year.

Methods: Retrospective cross-sectional study using medical records of 237 patients admitted through the emergency room (ER) with a diagnosis of RC secondary to urinary stones over a 10-year period at King Abdulaziz Medical City, Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Results: Patients fasting in Ramadan are 2 times more likely to present with a calculus of ureter as opposed to calculus in another location in the urinary tract, particularly when the holy month of Ramadan falls in the summer season.

Cardiac Troponins in Low-Risk Pulmonary Embolism Patients: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

Background: Patients with low-risk pulmonary embolism (PE) should be considered as per current scoring systems for ambulatory treatment. However, there is uncertainty whether patients with low scores and positive troponins should require hospitalization.

Methods: We searched MEDLINE, SCOPUS, and Cochrane Library databases from inception to December 2016 and collected longitudinal studies that evaluated the prognostic value of troponins in patients with low-risk PE.
