Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation is the only curative intervention for myelodysplastic syndrome, with graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) being a frequently encountered consequence. GVHD is classified as acute (aGVHD) or chronic (cGVHD). The oral cavity is the most impacted by chronic.

The etiology of GDD/ID is notably diverse, encompassing both genetic and acquired factors. Although the precise cause of most GDD/ID cases remains unclear, an estimated half of all cases can be attributed to genetic factors.

Patients with BTBGD have classical neuroimaging findings and a dramatic response to high doses of thiamine.
Objective: To highlight the advantages of administering a higher dose of thiamine for patients with BTBGD who have not shown improvement with the standard recommended dosage.
Biotin-thiamine-responsive basal ganglia disease (BTBGD) is a rare, inherited neurometabolic disorder caused by mutations in the gene and characterized by recurrent sub-acute episodes of encephalopathy that are often triggered by infections. Patients with BTBGD have classical neuroimaging findings and a dramatic response to high doses of thiamine. Herein, we report a 2 and a half-year-old Saudi girl presented with an acute onset of ataxia, slurred speech, and dysphagia, which was preceded by a history of accidental ingestion of around 20 mL of ethyl alcohol that is used in formulating perfumes 1 day earlier.

Methods: This retrospective study reviewed the charts of children with epilepsy who were followed up in the pediatric neurology clinic of King Fahad Hospital in Al-Baha region, Saudi Arabia, between January 2015 and August 2022. Children between 1 to 14 years of age who had epilepsy, as per the International League Against Epilepsy definition and received anti-seizure medication with a seizure-free period of at least 2 months before breakthrough seizure episode, were included in the study.
This study aimed to investigate the impact of the Tantalum Trabecular Metal dental implant design on implant stability and the process of osseointegration following its placement in the rabbit femoral condyle. The subjects for the experiment consisted of 10 New Zealand white rabbits. Twenty implants, comprising 10 Trabecular Metal (TM) and 10 Traditional Screw Vent (TSV) implants, were placed into the femoral condyles of these rabbits.

The most active petroleum ether soluble fraction was subjected to chromatographic purification, and nine compounds were isolated, identified using various chemical and spectroscopic methods, and tested for their anti-viral potential. The new ester identified as -Amyrin 3-(3'R-hydroxy)-hexadecanoate () was the most active compound with 51% inhibition of the viral growth and was given the name Rhazyin A.

Evidence regarding the use of antibiotics without a prescription in Saudi children is limited, and the factors that affect frequent antibiotic use in children are poorly understood. Therefore, we investigated the rate of the use of antibiotics in Saudi children reported by their parents and the factors associated with parents that affect the use of antibiotics in children.

Methods: We included adults aged ≥30 years who completed the dental examination, had at least one natural tooth, and provided an answer about their oral pain experience or oral health-related productivity loss in the 2015-2018 National Health and Nutrition and Examination Survey (NHANES). We performed descriptive analyses and multivariable binary logistic regression analyses on weighted data.
Autologous bone graft is one of the management solutions for saddle nose deformity. This helps from both functional and esthetic perspective. Several features of autologous graft specify the best material used to repair bony and cartilaginous nasal defects.

Materials And Methods: A total of 96 ceramic disk specimens were fabricated. The ceramic veneers were prepared to a standardized thickness of 1.
Purpose: The aim of this work was to evaluate the use of an angularly independent silicon detector (edgeless diodes) developed for dosimetry in megavoltage radiotherapy for Cyberknife in a phantom and for patient quality assurance (QA).
Method: The characterization of the edgeless diodes has been performed on Cyberknife with fixed and IRIS collimators. The edgeless diode probes were tested in terms of basic QA parameters such as measurements of tissue-phantom ratio (TPR), output factor and off-axis ratio.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to assess the esthetic outcome of maxillary anterior single implants by comparing the esthetic perception of dental professionals and patients.
Materials And Methods: Twenty-three patients with single implants in the esthetic zone were enrolled in this study. Dentists of four different dental specialties (Three orthodontists, three oral surgeons, three prosthodontists, and three periodontists) evaluated the pink esthetic score (PES)/white esthetic score (WES) for 23 implant-supported single restorations.
Calcium phosphate (CaP) ceramic coatings have been used to enhance the biocompatibility and osteoconductive properties of metallic implants. The chemical composition of these ceramic coatings is an important parameter, which can influence the final bone performance of the implant. In this study, the effect of phase composition of CaP-sputtered coatings was investigated on in vitro dissolution behavior and in vivo bone response.

Materials And Methods: Implants were placed bilaterally in the femoral condyles of 12 rabbits. On one side, the implants were placed 14 days after osteotomy, and the other side received implants immediately after osteotomy.

Material And Methods: Sixteen Beagle dogs received experimental titanium implants in the mandible 3 months after removal of left premolars (P2, P3 and P4). Three types of implants were installed in each animal: non-coated implant, nano-CaP coated implant and implant with type 1 collagen coating.
Peripheral dentinogenic ghost cell tumor is a rare tumor with only 24 cases previously described in the English literature. The majority of cases have been reported to occur in the anterior part of the jaws. A case occurring in posterior (molar region) of the mandible in a 75-year-old edentulous woman is reported.

Three conditions were simulated: (1) the direct fixture-bone contact and fibrous tissue fixture contact, (2) The different levels of horizontal bone loss, and (3) The hardening implant-bone interface.
Materials And Methods: Forty-nine dental implant fixtures were placed in the center of acrylic cubes.
Objectives: a) To correlate fluoride levels in drinking water sources with caries experience and dental fluorosis in Saudi Arabia, and suggest appropriate fluoride concentration for drinking water in the country.
Methods: Fluoride levels were determined from 3,629 samples obtained from drinking water sources in 11 regions of Saudi Arabia. Based on the fluoride concentrations, a stratified sample of subjects aged 6-7, 12-13, and 15-18 years was obtained from the regions.
Background And Objectives: Few studies have been conducted in the Saudi population on oral mucosal lesions. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the type and extent of oral lesions in a study among dental patients at a college of dentistry in Saudi Arabia.
Patients And Methods: Over a 3-year period, 2552 dental outpatients were interviewed and investigated clinically for the presence of oral mucosal conditions.
Background: This study was designed to assess the fluoride levels in drinking water in the Central Province of Saudi Arabia.
Materials And Methods: A total of 817 water samples were collected from 260 locations in Central Saudi Arabia. An atomic absorption spectrophotometer [HACH instrument, model DR 3000] was used in the analyses of water samples for fluoride levels.
