We describe here the first confirmed case in Oman of chronic osteomyelitis due to in a previously healthy four-year-old Omani girl. After laboratory confirmation of infection using molecular and qualitative and quantitative serological assays, the case was successfully managed with a combination of oral ciprofloxacin and cotrimoxazole and thereafter followed up for a long period without remission.

Neuropathies caused by jellyfish stings are extremely rare and poorly studied. A 20-year-old female patient was stung on the volar aspect of the right forearm by an unidentified species of jellyfish. Motor neuron syndromes including typical ALS develop very rarely after electrotrauma, with possible causality discussed but not confirmed. Iatrogenic femoral neuropathy is an uncommon surgical or obstetric complication that may be underreported. It results from compression, stretch, ischemia, or direct trauma of the nerve during hip arthroplasty, self-retaining retractor use in pelvicoabdominal surgery, lithotomy positioning for anesthesia or labor, and other more rare causes. A fully computerized high-pressure and high-temperature core holder device is simultaneously used to determine the electrical conductivity, zeta potential, and surface conductivity of consolidated rock cores in aqueous and nonaqueous systems. The total electrical conductivity of rock cores was determined by coupling streaming current and potential measurements. This shows that neglecting the surface conductivity Ksigma is crucial to converting the streaming potential into zeta potentials.

The hydrodynamic thickness delta of adsorbed petroleum (crude) oil layers into the pores of sandstone rocks, through which the liquid flows, has been studied by Poiseuille's flow law and the evolution of (electrical) streaming current. The adsorption of petroleum oil is accompanied by a numerical reduction in the (negative) surface potential of the pore walls, eventually stabilizing at a small positive potential, attributed to the oil macromolecules themselves. After increasing to around 30% of the pore radius, the adsorbed layer thickness delta stopped growing either with time or with concentrations of asphaltene in the flowing liquid.
