Some new 3H-quinazolin-4-one derivatives were synthesised and screened for anticancer, antiphospholipases, antiproteases, and antimetabolic syndrome activities. Compound 15d was more potent in reducing the cell viabilities of HT-29 and SW620 cells lines to 38%, 36.7%, compared to 5-FU which demonstrated cell viabilities of 65.

Gastroprotective activity of a novel Schiff base derived dibromo substituted compound against ethanol-induced acute gastric lesions in rats.

Background: Basic function of bromine in body is to activate pepsin production in gastritis with low acidity. The present study encompasses a broad in vivo study to evaluate gastroprotective activity of a novel dibromo substituted Schiff base complex against Sprague Dawley (SD) rats.

Methods: 2, 2'-[1, 2-cyclohexanediylbis (nitriloethylidyne)]bis(4-bromophenol) (CNBP) is synthesized via a Schiff base reaction, using the related ketone and diamine as the starting materials.

Metagenomic data of fungal community in Kongsfjorden, Arctic using Illumina next generation sequencing.

The data represents the diversity and distribution of fungal communities in Kongsfjorden, Arctic. The metagenomic DNA analysis was performed using next generation sequencing technology (Illumina MiSeq). Sequence data from amplified internal transcribed spacers (ITS) 2 region with fungal-specific primers exposed 83,417 sequences belonging to 7 operational taxonomic units (OTUs).

This experiment evaluated Panduratin A (PA), a chalcone isolated from Boesenbergia rotunda rhizomes, for its hepatoprotectivity. Distal renal tubular acidosis in Sjögren's syndrome.

Interstitial nephritis and immune complex-mediated glomerulonephritis are the two common renal manifestations of primary Sjögren's syndrome (SS). Here, we discuss three cases of primary SS where presenting manifestation was distal renal tubular acidosis. The possibility of an underlying autoimmune disorder should be considered in a patient presenting with distal tubular acidosis or recurrent hypokalemic periodic paralysis as treatment of primary disease improves the outcome of illness.

Thrombocytosis in a male patient with acute promyelocytic leukaemia during all-trans retinoic (ATRA) acid treatment.

We present a rather uncommon side effect observed in a 20-year-old man with acute promyelocytic leukemia during treatment with ATRA. He developed a high platelet counts reaching up to 1655×10⁹/L on day 29 of ATRA treatment, and started to recover spontaneously on day 33 of treatment, without any change in ATRA, or adding any cytoreduction therapy. No complications associated with thrombocytosis were observed.
