Introduction Wilson disease (WD) is a rare inherited autosomal recessive disorder caused by a mutation in the gene. This mutation affects copper metabolism, leading to the accumulation of copper in the liver, brain, cornea, and other tissues. If not treated, WD can lead to significant morbidities.

Hypertension is the most preventable cause of morbidity and mortality, but many individuals are underdiagnosed and lack treatment control. High blood pressure (BP) in the emergency department (ED) is commonly observed, but mostly used for short-term evaluation. We aimed to study the usefulness of high BP in the ED as a screening tool for undiagnosed hypertension.

Antiproliferative Impact of Linagliptin on the Cervical Cancer Cell Line.

Objective: This study aimed to assess linagliptin's inhibitory effects on the proliferation of cervical cancer cell lines and investigate its potential for targeting human heat shock protein 90.

Methods: Linagliptin's cytotoxicity was assessed on a cervical cancer cell line (Hela cancer cell line) at two different incubation periods, 24 and 72 hours. The molecular docking between linagliptin and the receptor protein human Hsp 90 (PDB code: 5XRE) was performed using the Biovia Discovery Studio and AutoDock tool software.

Johanson-Blizzard syndrome (JBS) is a rare hereditary autosomal recessive disorder caused by a mutation in the ubiquitin protein ligase E3 component n-recognin 1 (UBR1) gene. This syndrome is characterized by the following typical clinical features: hypoplasia or aplasia of the alae nasi, congenital scalp defects, sensorineural hearing loss, hypothyroidism, growth retardation, psychomotor retardation, imperforate anus, genitourinary anomalies, and atypical hair patterns. Here, we describe a case of a 12-year-old girl with JBS of consanguineous parents.

Prevalence and predictors of social anxiety disorders among Malaysian secondary school students during the COVID-19 pandemic: Exploring the influence of internet gaming disorder and impulsivity.

This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of social anxiety disorder (SAD) among Malaysian secondary school students during the COVID-19 pandemic and to explore its correlations with demographic variables, impulsivity behavior, and internet gaming disorder (IGD). A total of 1574 participants from 12 government secondary schools across five Malaysian states, comprising 569 males and 1005 females, completed an online questionnaire containing validated Malay versions of the Social Interaction Anxiety Scale, Barratt Impulsiveness Scale, and Internet Gaming Disorder Scale - Short Form. The findings revealed a notable SAD prevalence rate of 40.

The effectiveness of organisational-level workplace mental health interventions on mental health and wellbeing in construction workers: A systematic review and recommended research agenda.

Objectives: This systematic review assesses the scientific evidence regarding the effectiveness of organisational-level workplace mental health interventions on stress, burnout, non-clinical depressive and anxiety symptoms, and wellbeing in construction workers.

Methods: Eligibility criteria were randomized controlled trials (RCTs), cluster randomized controlled trials (cRCTs), controlled or uncontrolled before- and after studies published in peer-reviewed journals between 2010 and May 2022 in five databases (Academic Search Complete, PsycInfo, PubMed, Scopus and Web of Science). Outcomes were stress, burnout and non-clinical depression and anxiety symptoms, and wellbeing (primary) and workplace changes and sickness absenteeism (secondary).

Numerical Investigation of FRCM-Strengthened Corroded RC Beams under Cathodic Protection.

Fibric reinforced cementitious matrix (FRCM) composites have been used to improve the mechanical performance of reinforced concrete beams subjected to degradation in the past decades. Recently, dual-functional carbon fibres have been explored to provide both structural strengthening to RC beams and cathodic protection to reinforcement bars. This paper investigates the loading responses and structural behaviour of RC beams subjected to different levels of corrosion, protected by impressed current cathodic protection and structurally strengthened by external bonded FRCM.

Supporting employees with mental illness and reducing mental illness-related stigma in the workplace: an expert survey.

An expert survey was designed to support the development of a workplace-based multi-country intervention tackling depression, anxiety, and mental illness-related stigma in small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Academic experts and representatives of SME organisations, specific sector organisations, labour or advocacy groups, and occupational health organisations, were contacted across eight European countries and Australia. The survey comprised closed and open text questions to assess expert opinion about interventions for employees with mental health difficulties, interventions supporting their managers, and anti-stigma interventions.

Buccal caffeine strips for reversal of adverse symptoms of vasodilator stress.

Background: Due to recurrent shortages of aminophylline, intravenous caffeine has emerged as a commonly used, safe and reliable method to treat adverse effects of vasodilator stress agents. We sought to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of buccal caffeine strips which are rapidly absorbed, inexpensive, readily available, and simplify caffeine administration.

Methods: Consecutive patients undergoing regadenoson stress SPECT MPI were assessed for the occurrence of symptoms during testing over an 11-week period at a single metropolitan hospital.

Spatial and temporal analysis of the risks posed by metal contamination in coastal and marine sediments of Bahrain.

Nine metals including Al, Cd, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb and Zn were analysed from sediment samples collected from 29 stations since 2007 from Bahraini waters. Within this study, it was investigated whether concentrations of these determinants are at concentrations above internationally established Assessment Criteria (AC). The majority of sites were considered not to pose a toxicological risk in terms of metal contamination.

Background: Depression is one of the key factors contributing to difficulties in one's ability to work, and serves as one of the major reasons why employees apply for psychotherapy and receive insurance subsidization of treatments. Hence, an increasing and growing number of studies rely on workability assessment scales as their primary outcome measure. The Work and Social Assessment Scale (WSAS) has been documented as one of the most psychometrically reliable and valid tools especially developed to assess workability and social functioning in patients with mental health problems.

Baseline survey of marine sediments collected from the Kingdom of Bahrain: PAHs, PCBs, organochlorine pesticides, perfluoroalkyl substances, dioxins, brominated flame retardants and metal contamination.

A baseline survey of sediment contamination was undertaken at 14 locations around the coastline of Bahrain in May 2017, followed by a focused survey of 20 sites, in November 2019. Samples were assessed for industrial pollutants, including metals, PAHs and a suite of organohalogen compounds. The data generated indicated that levels of chemical contaminants were generally low and did not pose a toxicological risk when assessed against commonly applied sediment quality guidelines (SQG).

Impact of provision of optimum diabetes care on the safety of fasting in Ramadan in adult and adolescent patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus.

Background: All diabetes and Ramadan guidelines advice against fasting for people with type 1 diabetes, however, many insist on fasting. Consequently, this causes a challenge due to the risk of hypoglycaemia, hyperglycemia ± diabetic ketoacidosis.

Aim: To assess the impact of optimum care, which includes Ramadan-focused education, flash glucose monitoring, dietary advice and treatment adjustment on the safety of Ramadan fasting in people with type 1 diabetes.
